1917 was excellent. Very tense, very much like Dunkirk. It wasn't playing IMAX near us though, I would've preferred to see it that way.
Also watched Boys From Brazil, on Amazon Prime. It was obviously dated being that it released in 1978. Interesting premise, and if you ever wanted to see Gregory Peck play a Nazi, there's your chance. Several very uncomfortable (bad) fight scenes between 70 year old men. Still enjoyable and a bit creepy.

Pittsburgh Mills not showing it in IMAX. Dumb.

Is Boys From Brazil the one with Dobermans trained to attack on 'action' and 'cut' commands?

Haha, that's one of the first movies I ever watched on HBO or The Movie Channel when I was like 5 or 6 years old

I downloaded Terminator: Dark Fate. Is it so bad that I shouldn't even bother watching it in my really spare time at home?

The lighthouse was great. It really had a little bit of everything and clicked all the boxes for me. The acting was fantastic and I'd love to see behind the scenes on this one.

I thought it had the right amount of balance, I'll always take more cosmic horror, but I thought this worked here. For such a simple story, I thought there was a lot to digest. For being set in the 1890s, I thought they did a wonderful job at making me feel and think about what working these kind of jobs would have been like. For 2 hours, I was completely transported to this weird and intense place in time and loved being there!the dialogue could be seen as written funny but defoe delivered his retorts with such vigor that i'll give him the credit. the physical 'jokes' were intentional but not funny maybe. but certainly added a change in tone.More intentionally than unintentionally funny, IMO.Was lighthouse funny? Even in an unintentional way?I watched the lighthouse and phantom thread
Both were enjoyable specifically for tremendous acting. I was a little disappointed by phantom thread as i realized about halfway through that i wasn't likely to watch it multiple times like other PTA films. It was maybe too meticulously well done.
I think the lighthouse was better than expected but by the end i felt it had more potential.
I struggled with using subtitles or not eventually leaving them on. The dialogue was a literary blast but the performances were a shame to glance away from.
Has anyone seen waiting for the barbarians?
i like thinking about that movie and want to see it again. i think, eddy, you read Annihilation. so it does have that weird/horror aspect to it. but i don't think i liked how he handled that. i would have preferred a more straight up psychological movie or wish the metaphysical stuff played a bigger role - especially the lighthouse itself. it's like the movie isn't quite done. a great short film stretched out and you almost don't notice because you want more of both actors and the black and white is gorgeous.

On David lynches birthday, Netflix drops a 17 minute short film from him where he interrogates a talking monkey suspected of murder. Enjoy

I watched it and it was everything and more. Watched it again with my daughter as her first experience with Lynch and the puzzled look on her face and audible groans from the wife across the room made it a success.

We should all be so lucky as to have a papa like eddy.

There is literally a song and dance number with the monkey, kids need to be exposed to this weirdness.

Watched Ronin for the first time in 20 years or so. Still holds up really well. Ridiculous car chases, great cast.

Was that Frankenheimer's last feature? I remember liking the movie, but nothing much sticks out about it in my memory now. Back when Hollywood was trying to make an action hero star out of Jean Reno.

He had a couple of minor directing credits on IMdB after that, including the cool BMW ads with Clive Owen.
