You know it’s a good movie when you don’t mind reading the subtitles.

I was amazed they got BFM to participate. That said, I'm 98% certain he was making up the Thanksgiving dinner story on the fly.
This series started out really awful and it's slowly become more watchable. Man, this makes me miss Harold Ramis. His absence is palpable here. It's going to be tough watching the reboot without him there.

I'm anxious to hear your thoughts. 100% practical effects. Think Event Horizon meets The Thing. It's one of the best horror films I've seen in years. You just reminded me I bought it at beginning of quarantine and have yet to watch.Another film that does the same thing is The Void. Steps on your throat during the opening and then just crushes you throughout.Yep, those temple scenes are some of the best things put on film ever, it's done so well. That movie starts at 11 and somehow gets crazier as it goes on.Awesome awesome movie. Very underrated. The temple sacrifice scene is seriously some crazy ****Watched Apocalypto last night, ooh man, that is a **** up absolutely brutal movie. Not an easy watch, but man can Mel Gibson make a movie. Holy ****.

There's no reunion without BFM. If he's not there, what's the point? Also, Dan Akroyd is a loon.Source of the post I was amazed they got BFM to participate. That said, I'm 98% certain he was making up the Thanksgiving dinner story on the fly.
I was hoping to see Rick Moranis there. I understand he took a long hiatus from acting and I understand the reasoning and all that, but it still would've been nice to see him. And he's back now having been confirmed for the Honey I Shrunk the Kids sequel.

Did you ever see the film Harbinger Down? It was a crowd-funded horror film (produced by the Amalgamated Dynamics effects shop, co-produced by noted yinzer Tom Woodruff), with a priority given to practical creature effects. I backed the project on Kickstarter, and remain a proud Harbie...... even though I've never actually seen the film...........I'm anxious to hear your thoughts. 100% practical effects. I haven't seen it either but the backstory is pretty cool. When they were making the prequel to The Thing, they used all practical effects. The studio came in and nixed that and made the filmmakers go with cgi crapola. The FX team didn't want their work to go to waste, so they made Harbinger Down.

You guys both appreciate that kind of stuff, I'd recommend it.
I don't know if they ever made any of it available on YouTube, but during production (when the Kickstarter was active) they'd post BTS vlogs for supporters, and it looked insanely cool.

I showed both to a friend a couple years ago. She'd never seen either and, after viewing both, said, "I like the prequel better."

I strongly considered ending the friendship.

The original (remake) by John Carpenter is a horror masterclass.
I am not ashamed to admit that I was well into my 20s before I realized Childs' breath isn't visible.

Yup, when he's sitting outside with McReady.
There are four or five other tells that hint at it, and the breath thing is pretty on-the-nose. (Which is why it knocked me sideways when I finally realized it) However, the video game is apparently considered a canonical sequel by Carpenter, and in the game Childs isn't an Immitation. (I've never played it, so I'm not sure what the context is.)

We watched the Sinise/Malkovich Of Mice and Men. My son is reading the book for school, so it was a nice recap.
It's pretty good, great performances. Sherilyn Fenn too

Incident in a Ghostland. It's only available on Shudder (which is totally worth the $6 a month to me).
If you liked Martyrs you'll like this. Brutal and gut wrenching. It takes a lot to make me uncomfortable watching a movie.

Where would I find the uncut version of Malena (with Monica Bellucci)? My usual source has nothing, and I can’t tell if the Amazon streaming version is the US edited version. eBay has copies from Korea for $40, so that’s out.

Watched Ford vs Ferrari for the first time. Thought it was very corny. Didn’t really like it honestly. It’s an interesting story but the ancillary characters were so over the top (Ford II, the executive Leo, All of the Ferrari guys). And Matt Damon’s Shelby voice was pretty annoying
