Rob Zombie's Munsters:

Doesn't look white trashy enough. Oh wait, Sheri Moon Zombie is one of the leads. It's trashy.

I started watching the Bill and Ted thingy the other night. Keanu was the worst actor in it, which was interesting. I also bailed about a quarter of the way thru because it was dogshit. That’s less interesting.

Halloween Kills is going to be a love it or hate it movie I think. They reallllllly upped the brutality and violence. Like alllooot.

Watched it in a pretty packed theater and it was a fun time. It's a bridge movie that can be a bit heavy handed for it's own good at times but I enjoyed it. The kills alone are worth it. Just great violent brutal stuff.
I didn't love it or hate it, but am solidly in the middle, ha. The script was pretty damned bad. I think it had the worst, corniest dialogue I've heard in a "real" movie in many, many years. Some of the subplots were downright ludicrous, even for a horror movie. I hated just about all of the town stuff. So out of left field. A couple spoilers follow.
The town is so traumatized by Michael Myers that they're willing to go batshit crazy vigilante but no one even knows what he looks like? Tommy freaking Doyle doesn't know what he looks like? They had his picture on the news broadcast. (smacks forehead)

I love a good gratuitous kill scene as much as anyone, but some of these were so blatantly there just to up the body count (I'm talking about you old couple who fly a drone inside their own house for no reason) that I couldn't even enjoy them.

Did anyone really watch Halloween 78 and say, "I wonder what Lonnie was up to? I think not. I also worry we're going to get more of those white trash bully kids who were picking on him in Ends.

The groups attacking Michael Myers were straight out of a bad kung fu movie. Let's attack one by one and not in a huge group so we can stand by and watch everyone get killed... one by one.

Some of the acting was abysmal. I mean, what was up with that bartender? Was he an investor? Did he win a contest to get a role in the flick? WTF was he even saying?

If I never hear "Evil dies tonight" again it'll be too soon.

All that said, I enjoyed probably half of the film. The kills were fun. I enjoyed the final reel/ending a lot. So glad they killed Tommy Doyle. Killing Laurie's daughter (who I just watched in 2018 and Kills and still don't know her character name) was a great way to end it.

Of all the extraneous side characters, I really liked Big John and Little John and hated when they got killed. I like the granddaughter and her boyfriend more this time around than 2018.
Overall, I feel like they had bigger ambitions than they had talent to pull it off. It's too angsty and self-reflective and the writing is no where near the quality to not make it all come off hokey AF. But as a slasher flick, it's a solid 3/5.
Agree with everything you said pretty much. The dialogue and acting definitely was really bad at times and lots of the subplot stuff was silly and at times annoying.

I still enjoyed the movie overall though for some reason.
Finally had a chance to watch it tonight. I might get more in depth later but I just wanted to say that while I agree with these points, I really enjoyed it. It helps that I just watched the entire series. After Kung Fu Busta and Sex Hair Josh Hartnett and whatever the **** Paul Rudd is doing in Curse, Kills looks like Citizen Kane.

I’ll post full thoughts soon but overall it was silly, gory fun.

I'm a big fan. I'd put in Carpenter's top 5 horror films.

In case you're wondering, the other 4 would be Halloween, The Thing, Christine, and The Fog.

Not sure if anyone posted the international trailer for Ghostbusters or not... but it's the best one yet IMO and hits all the right buttons for me. Officially even more pumped now.

When the theme music hit during the one part.....it's like my childhood all over again.

Edit: There def is some spoilery stuff in there if you don't want to know too much going in...

Gonna skip the rest of the trailers to avoid seeing too much. I already know I want to see it.

I'm a little worried about how much they're pushing the lil Stay Pufts.

So it’s…ghostbuster kids. Ehhhhhhhhhh. I also assume it’s going to have an unresolved ending for the purpose of franchise building.

I didn’t see anything compelling there tbh.

This isn’t just because of the actor. But I see very little oxygen between this and Stranger Things. Based on my extensive research, anyway.

I guess I trust Jason Reitman to not make a bad ghostbusters movie. It may not be perfect, and maybe my trust is misguided, but I think his vision will please most fans of the franchise.

I know that part of this is nostalgia speaking for me with Ghostbusters being my favorite movie ever and it being tied so closely to my childhood overall, but I'm pretty optimistic. That trailer checked all my boxes pretty much of what I think I want in a new Ghostbusters movie (outside of whatever involvement the original cast may have).

I don’t think it looks bad or anything. It’s just not made for me. It’s a way to reboot the franchise for younger audiences. I like the adult actors. I think it has an interesting balance of goofy and serious. But I’m just not seeing the hook.

I also don’t really get much nostalgia out of this trailer. It’s not like the signature cocktail of Ghostbusters was the equipment. It was the interplay across a series of extremely talented comedic actors executing on well-developed characters in an absurd setting. This looks like a Jurassic World thing where they stick a bunch of artifacts from the original in there to pull in older customers but completely change what the movie really is.

Why does Ghostbusters need a reboot for younger audiences? The movie came out when I was 7, and I remember going to the theater to see it. Ghostbuster pandemonium was all over Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Everybody was Slimer for Halloween.

My kids and I just watched it a couple months ago. They are 5 and 7. They loved it.
