The Descent is a really good flick. Agree with Tony on the UK ending being better than what we got in the US.

Didn't read you had the unrated cut, yeah you should be good.

Can I get some recommends for modern horror? We really liked Hereditary, The Strangers, The Witch, Get Out.

We’re watching The Descent tonight. I remember thinking it was good in the theater but I haven’t seen it in 15 years.
The lighthouse (eggers follow-up from witch)
Let the right one in (I've only seen the swedish version)
Mulholland drive
The host
Endless
Mandy

It's an unremarkable story with good atmosphere.

Well, yeah.

Wait, have you watched Bly Manor? Might have to adjust those power rankings.

lot of soul/blues/r&b people you could do a movie drama about
chuck berry comes immediately to mind
muddy waters, willie dixon
about 20-25 years ago a movie about otis redding's life started production but nothing ever came of it
a decent movie about richard penniman exists
could be a lot more is all

Yes it's one of the best horror films I've seen in a while. Being a parent makes this one better IMO.

The Descent was great. I remembered it being scary and it definitely held up. The fiancé was pretty quiet throughout the beginning but finally hit me with a "I **** hate this movie" after a jump scare. Which is her code for "this movie is terrifying, I just wanted a light scare why would you do this to me?" So I would say it was a success.

Haha, nice. Saw this in the theater with my wife and she refuses to watch it again or a horror movie in the theater since

I think The Decent is great. I really felt claustrophobic while watching. I caught it at Row House a few years ago and the smaller theater added to the atmosphere.

I've been watching many 70s and 80s horror flicks for Halloween and sort of forgot how much I prefer the aesthetics of film over digital. It just feels so much more cinematic.

Agree. You watch The Sentinel yet?

It will be interesting down the road where you see film being rescanned at whatever resolution we have then and how it will look better than 4k digital upscaled.

It's been a couple years since I last watched it. Good, weird flick. Just finished up the original The Hills Have Eyes. Today I'm having a "travel gone bad" theme day.
