Also watched a Knight's tale with the family. That's another movie that won't get old for me.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

not...not a good movie. I almost completely agree with Ebert's take on it. There's the idea of a good film inside it but they completely lose the plot with the hour long chase sequence
Director George Roy Hill apparently spent a lot of money to take his company on location for these scenes, and I guess when he got back to Hollywood he couldn't bear to edit them out of the final version. So the Super-posse chases our heroes unceasingly, until we've long since forgotten how well the movie started and are desperately wondering if they'll ever get finished riding up and down those endless hills. And once bogged down, the movie never recovers.

I see MIMH got ahold of Jim's Magic 8-Ball that only spits out the worst imaginable take on a subject.

I don't think it "matters" in that it should drive your opinion of a film, but he is the most significant film critic of alltime imo so he does articulate his opinions on films very well even if his opinion is disagreeable

for example he gave Godfather II 3 stars originally. Obviously GFII is one of the best films of alltime. So his opinion doesn't matter, it's more like a guide

I just thought Butch Cassidy was not a great movie (I'd give it 6/10) and my opinion on it agrees with Ebert's and he can explain why he didn't like it a hell of a lot better than I can

Speaking of Ebert, the Siskel & Ebert show was great. I miss movie review shows. I'm assuming those don't exist anymore.

In addition to the aforementioned misguided lack of adoration, Ebert also disliked films with Oscar pedigrees like Gladiator, A Clockwork Orange, and The Usual Suspects.

He also gave very positive reviews to Speed 2, Anaconda, and Congo, which featured more heavily at the Razzies.

So........ grain of salt.

They are indeed fun watches. They are not 3.5-stars out of 4 on the same scale in which Braveheart, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and The Princess Bride are also 3.5 stars.

This has nothing to do with my statement. You told me he IS a significant critic. I said I never understood why.
