Finally bought the LOTR extended edition blu-rays. I have the DVDs but somehow they got all scratched up and refuse to play. I'm looking forward to digging in. It's been a long time since I've watched these.

Family movie night was the free prince concert streaming. Interesting family moment when he jacked off his guitar complete with hose and shooting liquid, haha. Couldn't fit in my leather pants or purple spandex shirt anymore, but I still got the moves.

Watched Dawn of the planet of the apes. I'm still shocked a movie like this got made. It's so well done. I think this movie is incredible.

Saw the one with Mark Wahlberg in 2000 or whatever it was, and at the end battle there's an explosion that sends multiple simians into the air. My buddy was like "Look at the monkeys!", and it was the biggest audience reaction of the whole show.

They really nailed the "NO" scene, even if it wasn't possible.

Family movie night was Airplane! One of my favorites and I'm glad to say the kids loved it as well. Will definitely keep them around for the near future.

Apologies if this was already posted but this apparently was released 6 days ago and I somehow missed it.

Yep. Watching it now and can confirm. Also, I hate the 5-10 minutes of them re-reading classic lines. I don't understand the appeal of that.

I just finished. Where the **** was Biff?

I think Christopher Lloyd would be a really fun dude to hang out with for a day, he's had one hell of a career. Agreed, the re-reading of lines is just awkward.

I recently read some interesting facts about Airplane!

The two people giving the PA announcements in the airport were the actual people who worked for LAX at the time. They were also married. And their abortion conversation comes from a book that was the inspiration for one of the movies Airplane! was spoofing.

Also, Peter Graves initially declined the movie because he thought it was a serious film and was garbage. Once it was explained to him and his family encouraged him he took it.

I had read that thing about the LAX couple before, but that bit about Peter Graves is hilarious.

That's sort of what makes Johnny such a funny character; it's like he's in on the joke that it's a spoof, and no one else realizes it.

One of the directors had to explain that it was literally a parody of himself. Once he got it he was all in.

Had a hell of double feature last night. Top Gun/Days of Thunder. Man was it awesome. Really dropped the hammer.

Unlike most of the films that get praise in here... this one actually looks good.
