That’s just a small excerpt from a 18 page interview from February 1990 Playboy (starts around page 50) I read it for the articles ya know. NOTE that the link takes you to a digital version of the whole issue including Pam Anderson...you have been warned.

What a nostalgia rush flipping through that.

I must have 'read' page 107 a few thousand times back then.

I more preferred the in depth reading on page 113.

Other than a specific demographic and vocal SJWs I haven’t seen anyone who doesn’t consider the casting to be pandering nonsense.
Yeah, it's a pretty blatant attempt to get media buzz for being "courageous" with their choice.
I'd say one of the goals is for things like this to become so commonplace that we no longer interpret them this way. Since Disney started making movies back in, what, the 30s(?), they've had a grand total of one black princess. Yeah, it makes zero difference to us, white dudes on the internet, but to little black girls who watch this stuff it means the world. So who ****ing cares. If you ask me, the people who are too sensitive about **** are the ones who get all themselves all in a tizzy anytime something gets less white.

In other news, live-action Lion King looks absolutely awful.

Because critics said so? The critics hated Aladdin as well, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Critics hate “remakes” because they say it means Hollywood is running out of ideas. Hollywood ran out of original ideas 80+ years ago. There are only so many storylines one can have.

The highest grossing movie of all time is considered by critics to be original. It’s ferngully in 3D.

Toy Story 4 was my favorite in the series. 3 was basically the same as 2, and I don’t think the stakes were really that emotional, despite everyone getting upset at the incinerator scene. The Gabby story in this one is much more poignant, IMO. And for once, Woody was actually likable. First time the mini shmenguins have seen a movie in the theater, which was cool.

No, because I watched this clip of expressionless animals running aimlessly through a jungle during what is supposed to be one of the most joyful moments of the film.

And here's a clip of what looks like an actual lion speaking english, i.e. barely moving its face/eyes/mouth at all. Just not for me I suppose.

I’ve heard that it was pretty bad, as well. My friends aren’t critics, though, so we need a third party to confirm.

Yes. It’s extremely surprising that a photorealistic lion looks like a lion.

Kagemusha, ran, and dreams from 1980-90. Hell of a run to get to 80 years old.

Bond 25 ‘will see actress Lashana Lynch take over from Daniel Craig to become first female 007’ https://t.co/6fZn7maKzr

This should go over well with the same crowd dodinting about the little mermaid

The comments I’ve read today are from people who didn’t actually read the story, and think that she’s actually replacing Daniel Craig. That’s not the case.

That said, this would have been an infinitely more cooler reveal had they not let it leak, and just let everyone find out while watching.

The end was good but I didn’t find it sad. The tea party scene had me a little teared up, I admit. Because this movie wasn’t just about how obsolescence makes you bitter, like 1-3 were. Obsolescence isn’t sad. It’s a fact of life. But this part of the story was about having your future taken away from you because of your body failing you, and how your pain can be misunderstood by others.

They dove into deeper themes with this one.

So 007 is a black woman now? Lol. It's honestly getting funny at this point.

I know she isn't replacing Daniel Craig. She *is* the new 007 (reportedly).

And to expound on that, if this is Craig's last film, she is essentially the new James Bond and the focal point of the franchise.

I'm not "upset" about this, but I imagine most people do not watch Bond movies hoping for strong feminist messaging and a female lead.

Eeeh maybe we should wait to see the movie. Or until a more reputable source reports it. That article is literally a tabloid reporting another tabloids reporting.

Eh, I've always liked the idea that 007 was a recyclable title and that James Bond was a codename (though Skyfall kind of ruined that) so that we could move to someone like Idris Elba in the role. My issue with this is that the only thing I've seen Lashana Lynch in was Captain Marvel and she sucked, though pretty much everyone in Captain Marvel sucked.

I don't have any issue with the above. I dunno...for me, it's more about just simple escapism. I enjoy the "toxic masculinity" of the Bond films. A lot of the older stuff is hilariously/horrifically outdated (the spank in Goldfinger is always the first thing that comes to mind), but I enjoy the Bond films because it's free from a lot of the SJW messaging that is increasingly permeating pop culture. It's fun escapism.

Again, to be clear here, I am not "upset" or "angry" about it. I am admittedly less interested in upcoming Bond films now if this is the direction they are going in.
