I love that. This is one of many areas where I feel the current internet/nerd/fan culture gets it way wrong. There's way too much of a focus on continuity or what is believable in reality vs in a film. It's why I **** hate those Everything Wrong With/CinemaSins videos. Listen to any director or editor talk and continuity is literally the last thing they worry about when cutting a movie. It's story, emotion, character. The main character's shirt could switch between red and blue in each shot but if the performance is spot on and the emotion is there, the filmmakers don't give a ****. Same theory for the believability stuff.I very much agree with that last bit. He said as much when somone tried to explain that SCUBA tanks won't explode if you shoot them on Jaws. "If I've done my job to that point, the audience won't care. If they do care, we've got bigger problems on our hands." (Or something to that effect.)The book specifically states that each dinosaur enclosure is surrounded by a huge cement moat to keep the dinos away from the fence. The movie's world is a bit different and the moats run perpendicular to the fence to create a divide within the enclosure, as seen here: http://jurassicpark.wikia.com/wiki/Jura ... 1_1280.jpg
My guess is that diagram was created as a way to excuse the goof because in reality that doesn't make much sense. Spielberg knew what worked best for the movie and didn't give a **** about continuity.

Introduced kids to Edward Scissorhands last night. It's been a long time for me too. With superhero movies in full force, it was interesting to see them a little taken back by that kind of live action fantasy movie, they are certainly few and far between now. Great movie, got the tears going a couple times, man, that music.

I'll start by saying I don't care, but it snows every Christmas because of him up there carving away. They never saw snow before that and know he's still up there because it snows. Maybe a stretch, but see first 7 words.

Honestly, it has been so long since I've seen Edward Scissorhands I don't think I can really opine fairly.

Some of those videos are funny, some of them are just stupid. Nearly all of them miss the point. The CinemaSins video for Prometheus (which is not a Christmas movie, despite taking place at Christmas) is only four or five minutes, the one for Alien is over ten minutes. That's not cricket. This is one of many areas where I feel the current internet/nerd/fan culture gets it way wrong. The video game ones tend to be a bit less insufferable, I think because an unfortunate majority of writers/storytellers in the video game industry are just not on par with even the most mediocre writers in the film and TV world. So their narrative lapses are more readily laid bare and mocked.

Unsurprisingly I love CinemaSins. I don't take it seriously, they work for good movies too. Just watched the one for A Quiet Place which raised, repeatedly, the same point of "what counts as noise?"

Never really noticed but Christmas Vacation and Home Alone came out only two years apart. They seem like they came from completely different eras for me.

Good call. For some reason I remember watching Christmas Vacation when I was in 3rd/4th grade, but I was in middle school by then.Never really noticed but Christmas Vacation and Home Alone came out only two years apart. They seem like they came from completely different eras for me.

Christmas Vacation came out when I was 7. I think since it was an instant classic I just assumed it had been around longer than me.
