watched the original Halloween this weekend, wow, what a movie.

Also watched Invaders from Mars (80s version) with the kids. Great scary flick for kids!

Guillermo del Toro Directing ‘Pinocchio’ for Netflix
https://variety.com/2018/film/news/guil ... 87621/amp/

Del Toro has received the green light from Netflix to film “Pinocchio,” a stop motion musical version of the classic children’s tale about a puppet who wants to be a real live boy. He will write and produce the film in addition to directing it.
I'm in.

Man...we're going to lose so many titans of film/music in the next decade or two.

Yup. The nice thing is his music will live on forever. The films will always exist, obviously, but his scores will continue to be performed live by orchestras all over the world, and as more and more sequels to his films come out, more and more composers will be writing variations of Williams' themes. Though right now one of the best parts of seeing a new Star Wars anthology film is hearing a new John Williams score. I will miss that a lot.

Yeah, that's a fun movie. Really well put-together. One of those "if it's on I'll watch it" type of films for me.

In AT&T’s latest move to pare back the WarnerMedia businesses, Turner and Warner Bros. Digital Networks announced Friday that the FilmStruck indie-film streaming service will shut down next month.

The FilmStruck business will cease U.S. and international operations on Nov. 29, 2018. A Turner rep declined to comment on how many employees will be affected by the closure, or provide info on how many employees work on FilmStruck.

Johnny Depp dropped as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise

I've got two questions about this:
  1. What's Depp going to do now? He plays that same pirate character in basically all of his movies
  2. Who in the holy **** thinks that the franchise needs to be rebooted? We already have 24 of these movies, and don't need any more

Agreed, I thought the first two were a ton of fun, but I have no idea why they feel compelled to reboot the series. Depp was the perfect cast for that role, but the tone of his character changed for the worse throughout. They turned him from a mysterious, cool pirate type into a bumbling oaf.

Depp can do whatever weird role he wants to. Regardless of how you feel about Jack Sparrow, Johnny **** Depp will have zero problem finding work.

Rolling Stone had a long profile of Depp a few months ago that was a good read. He has a lot of financial and legal issues and has been living basically way beyond his means for years. He needs those Pirates paychecks to pay lawyers and debt.

But he's really pretty as bankable a movie star working today outside of super hero and Star Wars films.
