I, Tonya wasn’t bad. Really good performances all around but I didn’t find myself all that invested in the story.
I had a similar reaction. It's tough when so much of the emotional impact hinges on a complete subscription to everything that comes from the Tonya character/perspective, while the whole time you're aware that you're watching a movie biopic. Bodyguard character was hilarious.
I liked the mother's candid approach to telling it like it is. The spin that Tonya was also a victim was a bit too hard to digest.

What was surprising was how many people were given credit for working behind the scenes on this film. It seemed like there were at least 400+ names on the list for a simple movie.

I haven't watched Little Shop of Horrors since it came out, I was a young four years old in 1986. My wife and I got in an argument on our road trip this weekend, about whether it starred Rick Moranis or Steve Martin (we were both right). So we rewatched it last night, I had forgotten every single thing about the movie except the interaction between Moranis and the plant. I forgot it was a musical, and I didn't remember John Candy, Steve Martin, Jim Belushi, etc. I loathe musicals but it was a really fun watch.

You mean the remake of Little Shop of Horrors. And how can you not mention Bill Murray?

I mean, there's no doubt she had a steeper hill to climb than others, both in getting to the big-time and then succeeding once there. I don't think any of that would've been minimized at all if they chose to portray her as less oblivious to the whole plot as they did.
I voted for the Post, but we saw Call Me By Your Name last weekend. Most definitely not for everyone, but was quite a movie watching experience.
Was it? I'm usually all for the art-house/film experience, but have no interest in seeing this one for whatever reason (or at the very least, seeing it in the theater). Sell me. :P

It felt a little like life porn. You are basically thrown into the everyday life of a prominent professor' family that is spending their summer in an Italian villa. The light and sounds made it feel warm and transposed you to that setting. You slowly break into the mind of the son and feel the internal conflicts that he's trying to resolve. The frustrations that come from having to suppress your sexual desires and be someone your not, and I can't probably go much further without spoiling.

Gotcha -- sounds good. Still dunno if I'll have time to check it out in theaters, but will probably give it a whirl once it's streaming.

Google the director's cut original ending, it's a good story and also included on the latest bluray release

Haven't seen Three Billboards yet, but so far The Shape of Water is the best movie I've seen this year. The entire cast is excellent. No idea how Michael Shannon didn't earn a nomination. The cinematography and score are both excellent. McDonagh being left off the Best Director list probably leaves GDT as the front runner.

I don't see how a movie other than Coco could win best animated feature and Logan winning for Adapted Screenplay would be pretty awesome.

I'd say between him and Nolan (hard to believe it's his first nomination for Director).

Dark Horse - Baby Driver
Phantom Thread did better than predicted. Disaster Artist and Florida Project did worse. Everything else is about as expected, more or less.
pretty much agree. I really think Baby Driver should get it for Editing, but man Dunkirk was good too (I didn't see Shape of Water). Baby Driver should get the sound mixing and editing too, they did something special with that movie
