Just watched the mighty ducks. He calls the line with the two black kids and white kid "the oreo line".

The early 90s were indeed an innocent time to be alive.

And to be specific: "Death Race 2000" is available through FilmStruck. :thumb:
@eddysnake should see this, if he hadn't already.

Speaking of the 1990s being a great time to be alive, IMdB is closing down its comments section at some point soon. I remember using IMdB back before Amazon bought them.

I hadn't thought of the IMdB forums in years, but was messing around with my profile and found that I had left a handful of comments back in 2004 or so. I'd asked a couple of questions about films in production and got several thoughtful replies. It was a very pleasant discussion. I then looked at some more recent conversations on current films, and nearly every thread gets derailed with racist and homophobic comments...

What the hell happened in the last ten plus years? None of this new or a shock, just the disparity between the old comments and new was jarring.

Amazon/IMDB owns Box Office Mojo too, and that was nearly shut down a few years ago. They wouldn't let the site founder post anything for a week or two, then mysteriously it all came back. The main writer was pretty coy and it was obvious he wasn't allowed to say what was going on.

The IMDB boards just became a popular place to accuse films and people of racism.

I'm pretty sure humanity is crumbling. Or the percentage of people that totally suck and have no redeeming value have become much more vocal. Either way, it's a lose/lose for the interwebs.

I just was researching batteries for my Honda Odyssey, on a Honda Odyssey message board (yeah, there is a Honda minivan message board  ) and two commenters were going after each other about Honda OEM vs. third party batteries. Really nasty stuff, in a minivan forum. Seriously, civility is just out of the question, isn't it?

All you'd have to do to combat the negativity and racist/homophobic message board posters is to require users to use their actual full names. I'd bet that 99% of those types of users wouldn't write any of that **** without the security blanket of anonymity.

I kind of enjoyed Hail Caesar, but was just left at the end wondering what I just watched.

It's basically just the Coens doing a genre exercise. Of those, there are two really great scenes. The Channing Tatum dance number and Ralph Fiennes trying to direct the action star. The rest is more or less filler.

When I need that Ra Ra feel good movie, I pull out Anvil: The Story of Anvil.

How much is script written vs real life, I have no clue for these guys.

Reality says we have a short time to live. Live like you have a dream to live for. Albumn 15.

Week or so ago I saw The Last Waltz which I'd seen years ago. It's a documentary of the 1976 farewell concert of The Band. It was done by an obviously younger Martin Scorcese (longer black hair and beard). I learned that he used his camera men from Taxi driver and another one of his flicks from that era. Performers included Dylan as you'd expect along with 70's well knowns Staple Singers, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, Emmylou Harris. I think it did a good job of capturing 1970's atomosphere along with good live performances

I saw part of a documentary about the McAfee guy that developed the anti-virus software. I'm going to have to watch it again ; I'm a little unsure if was nearly broke for awhile and the guru references. It seemed like he was some kind of self-help flake for a while. He ended up moving to Belize (?) and running some kind of medical research scam according to his main researcher who also claimed he sexually assaulted her. The show made it seem like he committed a murder for hire on another American citizen and left the country. To my chagrin I guess he finished second in the Libertarian presidential primary. The documentary made him seem like a psycho genius huckster.
