In December 2013, walking blocks from his home, Josh Bills was approached by five officers who surrounded him. He greeted the officers calmly. He stood with his hands down to his sides at a 45-degree angle. He did not act aggressively. The police stopped him because of a call about a “Black man, black clothing.” Then the encounter went south — a scene emblematic of racialized policing that is all too familiar. Despite being cooperative with the officers, Officer Jordan Nelson, without warning, grabbed one of Bills’ arms and violently kicked his legs out from under him, smashing his face into the concrete. As Bills lay on the ground, injured and motionless, another officer knelt on his back to restrain him while they placed him under arrest. Chillingly, a few minutes after the brutal altercation, Nelson re-enacted the takedown for his fellow officers at the scene while Bills was still lying on the pavement waiting for medical attention.

This story sounds fishy....
According to the medical examiner's office in Virginia, a 19-year-old woman died from a gunshot wound through her mouth while her hands were cuffed behind her back. It was ruled a suicide.

The finding matched the account of Sarah Wilson's death by the Chesapeake Police Department that said she shot herself while officers were trying to detain her boyfriend.

Wilson was the passenger of a car pulled over by police on July 25, 2018. The 19-year-old's boyfriend, Holden Medlin, 27, was driving when they were stopped by two police officers, one patrol and one from narcotics. Separating the two from the car, one officer handcuffed Wilson while the other struggled to detain Medlin, who was reportedly combative and tried to flee the scene, as reported by WAVY in August.

While officers tried to get control of Medlin, Wilson was left alone and reportedly was able to get a gun, possibly from inside the car where she was a passenger, "contorted" her body and shot herself through the mouth while still wearing handcuffs, according to a police spokesman.

"She was handcuffed, and she managed to put a revolver in her mouth while handcuffed. That's what the investigator told me last night," the dead woman's mother Dawn Wilson told an ABC news station. "In all of her life I have never known of her to shoot a gun, own a gun, or even hold a gun."

Police were not able to explain how Wilson was able to get access to the gun and said it was not a police weapon. They reportedly tried to save Sarah Wilson's life after the gunshot but that she died at the location of the shooting.

Reports say one officer was wearing a body camera at the time of the stop but it was knocked off during the struggle with Medlin and turned off when it hit the ground. It was off during the shooting and did not capture the teen's death. After Medlin was detained, the camera was reattached and turned back on to record, police said but the Chesapeake Police Department declined to release the body camera footage.

Speed traps in general enrage me. Especially when it is multiple cops sitting in the same place or when they have a spotter and mass pull over a group.

Go catch some criminals. Not tax paying citizens trying to get to work.

State Police sit up the road from my house and run radar. The speed limit for about 1 mile drops from 55 to 35 for no reason. There used to be a school there but it closed 10+ years ago. They always do speed traps during daylight hours. Never in the evenings when idiots fly up and down the road, nor in the early morning when coal tracks barrel through doing 70. I guess it's just more convenient to nail people going 45 in a 35 between 10am and 6pm instead.

After threatening to do things the "hard way," police assault, arrest black man working on his own car in the parking lot of his own apartment complex:

Apparently, these cops believe declining to answer questions that one is under no obligation to answer is "wanting to be difficult," which is also somehow justification for a violent arrest. Note at the end of the video the officer notices the cell phone and purposely steps on it in order to cover it up (and probably also hoped to break it).

Is it though?

I could make a thread and cherry pick videos of police doing good things.

Would it be a 'bad thread'?

I agree with Shyster that this is absolutely an issue that needs a light continually shined on it. Also, this thread feels like public self-gratification. They're not mutually exclusive. ;)
