Saw that all the state’s finest we’re out running speed traps during the holiday weekend. Good job guys, keeping us safe by ruining someone’s holiday. That’s what I want my tax dollars paying for.

They were doing that up road from my house Friday. There's a completely straight, 1 mile stretch of road where the speed limit drops from 55 to 35 for no reason whatsoever. Protect and serve.

I thought I was going to get nabbed twice on the turnpike this weekend. Once in PA and once in OH. I was on the lookout too, thankfully...no tickets.

A California Cop's Body Camera Captured Him Fondling a Dead Woman's Breasts
https://reason.com/2019/12/04/a-califor ... s-breasts/
A veteran officer with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) captured himself fondling a corpse on his own body camera.

The Los Angeles Times reports that an unnamed officer in the Central Division responded to a call about a dead woman in a residential apartment. After arriving, the officer and his partner concluded that the woman was in fact deceased. When the unnamed officer's partner returned to the patrol car to retrieve something, the disturbing incident occurred.

The offending officer turned his body camera off and fondled the dead woman's breasts. When he turned the camera on again, a portion of his actions were captured. When an LAPD body camera is activated, a two-minute buffer saves any audio and visual that occurred prior.

Cop Gives No Warning Before Shooting 15yo Boy in the Back, Killing Him

After a police chase where a 15yo got out of the car and started to run away, the Ceres, CA cop who was in pursuit hops out of his car and without any statements or warnings executes a complete "mag dump," killing him. Only after he dumped his entire magazine at the boy did the K-9 officer give any commands. The fatal hits were all square in the back. Carmen “Spencer” Mendez was shot and killed in August 2018, however police have only just released the body camera footage publicly after settling with Mendez's family for $2.1 million, all of which—as always—will be funded by taxpayers and not the cop.

For some reason I find it amusing that Freddy has shared the Florida shootout story in multiple other threads but not the one dedicated to cops doing that sort of thing. There's no commentary here, it's just an observation.

I didn't realize I shared it in the Randomness thread. Must have meant to post something else from Twitter.

Back during the Christopher Dorner manhunt, LAPD officers sent over 100 rounds downrange at a pickup truck full of newspaper delivery ladies. They scored two hits.

From wiki
In two separate incidents during the manhunt, police shot at three civilians unrelated to Dorner, mistaking their pickup trucks for the vehicle being driven by Dorner. One of the civilians was hit by the police gunfire, another was wounded by shattered glass, and a third individual was injured when police rammed his vehicle and opened fire. The officers involved were not charged with any crime.[7][8]

A Texas Deputy Is in Jail for Conducting Unlawful Strip Searches on Women
https://reason.com/2019/12/09/a-texas-d ... -on-women/
A Texas deputy was arrested over the weekend for allegedly conducting unlawful strip searches on at least six women.

Floyd Berry, who has spent 18 years with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), is accused of conducting unlawful strip searches on at least six women between November 24 and December 4 this year. The BCSO and the Federal Bureau of Investigation began an investigation after five women, ranging in age from 26 to 52, reported Berry's behavior. A sixth woman came forward after the investigation began.

In one of the incidents, a woman says she and a male friend encountered Berry during a traffic stop. She was placed in the back of his patrol car, taken to a secluded area, and was told to remove her clothing for a search. In a similar incident, a woman was separated from her husband, told to lift her bra and shake until her nipples were exposed.

A third woman said Berry was visibly aroused and made flirtatious comments during the search. Berry documented none of the searches in his department reports.

Handwritten Notes Document the Collapse of the Phony Story That Led to a Deadly Houston Drug Raid
https://reason.com/2019/12/09/handwritt ... drug-raid/

An important bit of new information:
If the raid had not ended so disastrously, Goines might very well have succeeded in framing Tuttle and Nicholas. He had a history of mishandling evidence and making dubious statements under oath. Over 12 years, The Houston Chronicle found, Goines obtained nearly 100 no-knock warrants like the one used in this case, almost always claiming that informants had seen firearms in the homes he wanted to search. But he reported recovering guns only once, a pattern no one seems to have noticed.

That pattern indicates that this cop might have fabricated evidence in order to obtain dozens of no-knock search warrants. How many people are in jail right now due to this cop's fabrications?

Here's the Houston Chronicle investigation:

Botched Houston drug raid was not the first
A wider picture of misconduct among narcotics officers emerges after deadly HPD case

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/h ... 850548.php
However, a Houston Chronicle review of police records reveals a fuller picture of misconduct by Goines and past problems in the narcotics division.

Officers filed false affidavits when they asked judges for search warrants or arrest warrants. They performed sloppy investigative work and misrepresented their use of confidential informants, according to disciplinary records and court documents.

The Chronicle’s review also raises questions about the oversight of the division. While experts say best practices call for officers to rotate out of units such as narcotics regularly, dozens of officers have spent 10 years or more in that division at HPD. HPD’s inspections division audited narcotics’ operations just once in the 20 years prior to the deadly Jan. 28 raid, according to information obtained through a public records request.

Detroit PD's drug unit ensnared in 'major corruption investigation,' raising troubling questions about past convictions
https://m.metrotimes.com/detroit/dpds-d ... d=23336597
An investigation into the Detroit Police Department’s narcotic unit has yielded breathtaking allegations of widespread corruption, ranging from planting evidence to robbing drug dealers.

The eight-month, continuing probe raises serious questions about the convictions of alleged drug dealers that go back a decade.
...

So far, investigators have found evidence of narcotics officers stealing money from drug dealers, planting drugs on suspects, lying to prosecutors to obtain search warrants and embezzling money intended for informants.

What in the absolute ****?
The agent, whose name has not been released, was turning the corner from E. 8th St. onto Caton Place in Windsor Terrace about 9:45 p.m. when he came across a man and his girlfriend walking with a female Belgian Shepard.

The dog started barking, and the startled agent pulled out his gun and shot her, police sources said.
