The law here is to signal at least 100' in advance. Was the parking lot exit near an intersection with solid white lines?
I know an attorney who's pet peeve about turn signals in roundabouts is based on this distance language. He says since each turn off from the roundabout is less than the statutory distance then there is no requirement to use one when exiting.
…aaaaare you supposed to use signals when exiting a roundabout?

and the parking lot exit was maybe 500 feet or so from an intersection

We have a couple of roundabouts here (which was interesting when they first opened, as most locals didn't know what to do with them) but both are so small that turn signals usually don't stay on long enough to use them when exiting.

A roundabout is a hot topic right now in my town. The last election, city council and school board candidates focused on three things:

1. Stopping the roundabout from being put in.
2. Restoring the mascot of the school district (red raiders with an Indian head as the logo)
3. Stopping CRT.

So far they’ve succeeded in all three (although, #3 was an auto checkmark because it wasn’t being taught in the first place).

I don't get the gear grinding against roundabouts, they are way better than sitting at some 4-way stop where other drivers are constantly waving each other to go against the 4-way stop rules.

The only real downside to a roundabout is they take up a lot of space. Great when they're planned for new areas but often tough to integrate into existing infrastructure.

The people who think they're being nice and letting people go when it's their turn to go... That's more gear grinding to me than a roundabout. I will literally sit there and stare at them until they go. You're not helping, you're not being nice, you're causing more hassle.

there’s a round about near my work with only two exits. I don’t mind roundabouts but I am trying to figure out why they put one in that could’ve been just a…you know…a straight road

I can’t imagine. I like to use it as an example to other software engineers of how overengineering can be a thing

I think that cartoon would be more apropos if the upper caption was architects/marketing and the lower, engineers in general.

That is a very silly argument. You can put your signal on and not take the next exit.

also, if you knock and someone’s in there but you really have to pee and see that the woman’s bathroom is open, do you go for it?

1) yell “Occupied” in loud deep voice
2) shriek “Just a minnnnute” in high pitched voice

If I launch a projectile from ground level at a 20-degree angle how high will it be off of the ground when it crosses a line on the ground 10 feet away?

Btw, this might help:

Seems initial velocity is necessary to calculate it appropriately.
