Polls: Jung Ho Kang is still a pariah, and Bob Nutting is as unpopular as Antonio Brown

To be fair in passively reading the thread I was surprised how you guys went back to embracing the multi-DUI alleged rapist because he hit some spring ball homeruns.

It probably can’t be understated the impact of Kang returning to his 2016 self.

That adds a much needed middle of the order bat, pushes bell down to the six or seven spot and turns one of the biggest weaknesses of the roster into a strength.
It's not the only one.

It's a business and we can't stand on virtue. I just find it amusing because when he was hurt he was a complete piece of **** unworthy of the Pirate crest, and now he hit some meaningless dingers.

Awesome point, judging players on their ability to impact the outcome of games.

i think acknowledging a team as currently constructed needing Kang to hit a baseball /= embracing him

this appears to be a very loose definition of embracing

I think it's more of not understanding the product of the embrace.

I would say that my post is embracing the impact a 2016 Kang would have on the Pirate's lineup.

Either way, it's probably best to just ignore any post dodint makes in this thread anyway.

You weren't singled out, it was just the first post I found when I randomly selected page 3 when looking for the fawning over the home runs.

I kinda noticed what dodint was saying though. Not that Kang doesn't deserve scorn but the reaction to him a few months ago felt so outspoken i thought i was going to have to read about it in every Kang comment this year.

Im relieved it won't be pervasive as i prefer to ignore off field issues if possible

Kang is a POS who had mutliple DUI's. I personally will never root for the guy, but if others want to that is their prerogative. I have no tolerance for people who not only drive drunk, but do it multiple times.

That said, I'm sure I would be cheering if he hit a huge HR late in the year.

I'm watching the Bucs game from today against the Jays and they are airing a Garth Brooks segment. He was a Pirates fan as a kid?

Nick lodolo who turned down a bunch of money from the pirates to go to tcu in I think 2016 is looking dominant this year. He’ll be a top 10 pick. That sucks, imagine if he had gone pro and spent those years developing instead of trying to win irrelevant college baseball games.

He turned down 1.75mil. Slot value for 10 pick is 4.5mil. Plus whoever drafts him will probably fast track him to the majors since he’s an established college guy, he’d probably be up to low A by now with the Pirates developing him.

Instead of “the plate with a fastball that sits at 92-to-95 mph.

“His best secondary offering is a mid-70s breaking ball, with moderate depth and 1-to-7 movement, and he also shows feel for a mid-80s change piece.”

his scouting report would say “pitches to contact with two-seam fastball, had a breaking pitch but is never allowed to use it.”

Yeah, in hindsight, this is a good critique of the Pirates' developmental approach. They basically devote all their developmental energy in trying to raise the floor of their prospects. So they end up developing all these low ceiling hitters that are taught how not to strike out, and pitchers that throw mid 90's but can't strike anyone out.

which isn't the worst idea if your plan is to develop a bunch of guys that could win 85 games a year and then supplement that with a couple good free agents a year. However we just do the former
