The pirates are in the situation where fans perpetually second guess decisions (like the glansow/meadows trade) because the organization fails to consistently show that it is interested in winning. Was the archer trade a sign they want to win? Yes. Was following up the archer trade by doing nothing in the free agent market despite sizable holes in the roster a sign that they want to win? No. Did they sit on their hands until the trade deadline last year when there were roster problems? Yes.

Jordan Lyles with 5k's through 3IP, Buccos up 4-0 on the Giants.

I mean, the Pirates could be a terrible team like the Giants with the 5th highest payroll in baseball.

This lineup is close to being better then the Pirates lineup tonight. Not an indictment of the Bucs but man that's a stacked AAA lineup lol

Being terrible at baseball wasn’t enough for Gonzales. He had to go and kill Marte.

Pitching is ahead of offense again. The pirates are of course positioned to compete if this trend holds.

That was an enjoyable article. One thing i will say that is an advantage to the offense is that human body can only throw so hard. That being said, I’m not sure how hitters can adjust to the limited number of batter/pitcher matchups

Teams trade away quality prospects and players all the time.

People always whined about him stockpiling prospects.

Only NH could be criticized for it.
You’re missing the point. Troy hinted at it. The problem isn’t that NH traded Glasnow, it’s that he is terribad at hiring the right people to develop prospects into legit major leaguers.

The Pirates always tend to have a decent crop of prospects, but once they get to the majors, they fizzle out.

NH is also decent in reclamation projects, but there’s this major gap in taking the prospects to the next level. Scares me thinking what will happen to Hayes/Tucker.

I actually don’t think that. I think they’ve done well developing pitchers. Glasnow was a case where it was the major league coaching staff not being able to recognize his strengths or weaknesses. They just applied their standard approach which was contrary to Glasnow’s abilities.

I am stunned. I didn't think in a million years Tucker would be called up before September. Reynolds wasn't even on my radar for this year. I guess the injuries have really piled up though with Lonnie, Polanco, Marte, Gonzalez, Newman, Osuna, and Dickerson all being out. This puts the Pirates onto their ninth OFer I believe. I'm surprised Kramer (who has sucked in AAA) wasn't called up before Tucker but I guess they have zero faith in his ability to play SS. My hope is that Tucker performs and we can forget that Newman and EGon ever existed. Similarly, I guess they could have gone to Patrick Kivlehan for the OF move but he has sucked in AAA as well, whereas Reynolds has been awesome.

Just give me some Ke'Bryan Hayes and lets make the future now.
