Future HOFer Alexander Mojica was 3 for 4 in the loss.
A 17 year old Dominican with 18 K's and 22 walks in 100 at bats? *swoon*

That's the big thing with him. 45 teams in the DSL with rosters that easily exceed 30 players per team and only 29 guys are 16 years old. Mojica is 2nd in the league with an OPS of 1134. The other members of the top 10 are 18, 19, 17, 23, 19, 18, 17, 19, and 19. The second to last 19 year old is the Pirates' Randy Romero 385/426/578/1004. The Giants' Luis Matos at 14th is the first 2002 after Mojica and then not far behind is the Pirates Dariel Lopez at 17th (357/402/527/928). More 2002 birth years start appearing but there's no one in the top 50 that's in their 16 year old season.

I've gotten into some disputes on the p2 comments section on this topic. Basically, the common refrain is that you can't draw conclusions from DSL stats, and you can't write off guys like Jean Eusubio because he's only 19. My thinking is one more or less one overriding rationale. When I say Eusubio looks worthless, I am no discounting the possibility that he could slowly progress through the system and reach like a Jose Osuna caliber player. What I see in Mojica is the possibility for a Juan Soto type prospect. Regardless of how incompetent your player development system is, as long as a team has any level of competence, they should have a steady stream of Jose Osuna types. Churning out potential ML bench players is not the goal of the system, it's identifying and developing impact prospects, I think luck is half the battle there, when scouting these 13-14 year olds, it's nearly impossible determining which of these guys is Juan Soto and which is Lolo Sanchez, and we should only really care about whether or not the player is like the former.

Cancel the season again.

Dickie Dunn is Concerned About our Top Prospects:
- Mitch Keller: Provided support from the dugout.
- Ke'Bryan Hayes: 2 for 5 with 2 RBI. Indy got their ass whooped by the Fighting Tebows.
- Travis Swaggerty: 1 for 5 with 2 Ks.
- Oneil Cruz: 0 for 4 with a BB and K. His 300 BA is now 287. **** small sample sizes.
- Cole Tucker: 1 for 2 as a PH. EGon restarted his rehab and went 1 for 5.

In Altoona, Jared Oliva went 2 for 3 with 2 3Bs, 3 R, 1 B, 1 K, and 1 RBI. Glendinning went 3 for 4. Cal Mitchell went 2 for 4 for Bradenton and had a walk off grand slam. For Greensboro, Jack Herman went 2 for 3 with a HR and Fabricio Macias went 2 for 5 and added his 8th HR of the season. The Team of Destiny won again but Mojica went 0fer so now that we jinxed him it's time to ignore him for a bit.

Team of destiny now at 31-7.

I looked at Macias' peripherals this morning, he's another Josh Harrison type hitter. Limited power, never walks (so likely a free swinger), but makes a lot of contact and a high ground ball rate.

Oliva's turnaround is good, gives them another potential OF option in AAA next year that could make the jump to the big leagues. Herman's numbers are too fluky to draw any conclusions. He has 12 XBH this year, with 9 of those being HR.

Dickie Dunn is Concerned About our Top Prospects:
- Mitch Keller: Provided support from the dugout.
- Ke'Bryan Hayes: Night off.
- Travis Swaggerty and Oneil Cruz were rained out again.
- Cole Tucker: 0 for 5 with 2Ks. Played 2B so Len Elmore could get time at SS for some reason.
Is James Marvel any good
Maybe? His stuff isn't great but he's gotten results at every level. At the very least he has a future as a reliever.

Will Craig also went 2 for 4 with an RBI for Indy.

Cody Bolton finally had a good start for Altoona. Only struck out one through 6 but also only gave up one hit. Oliva went 2 for 4 and swiped his 27th base of the season.

Steven Jennings had another mediocre start for Greensboro that last only 4 innings. Bae was 0 for 4 with 3 Ks, Macias was 1 for 4, and Herman was 1 for 3.

DSL2 lost for the second time this week, though Mojica was off his one game snide and went 1 for 2 with an RBI.

Man, I would love to see the Bucs take this series. The Phillies just split a series with the Dodgers and their fans are on cloud nine.

Pirates are making Arrieta look better than he has in months.

It's almost like the baseball gods are trying to save the Pirates from blowing this 3-0 lead.

Musgrove pitched great. He's been the best starter and could end up with a very good year if he finishes strong

This year his starts (minus 2 shortened outings)

7 Excellent
5 VG - Decent
6 Bad (2 horrible, 2 very bad)

Small blurb about oneil Cruz on fangraphs. They have him as a prospect riser, and note that his exit velocity is comparable to what yordan Alvarez is doing for the Astros now.

While he seems potentially capable of handing SS, maybe it’s time to move him to the outfield. Maximizing his value would be harnessing that power bat, not trying to get him to the majors as a shortstop.

Some idiot casually walks up to the Phillies Brad Miller and tries to shake his hand. He got cuffed in front of the Phillies dugout.

The Pirates just made Drew fcking Smyly look like an ace today. This Phillies pitching staff is among the worst in the league and the Bucs haven't been able to do sht against them this series.
