I always wonder how the broadcasters do it, especially fans of the team like Blass. How many seasons can you fake being excited about the team? Sure, guys with no ties to the team it's easy, but Blass, Walk, Wehner....I'd have either quit by now or ripped the team on the air and take the consequences.

It's always good to see the Clementes, but it was shameful to do it front of a couple hundred fans (at most).

Lost in all of this terrible season is that these are the last few games that Steve Blass will be working for the Pirates. 60 years, quite a run.
Yeah, I just associate him with the Buccos now. Will be very, very strange to not have him around anymore.

In case the Pirates were looking for some goodwill this offseason, the FA class is historic.

There were 12 fans at yesterdays game. The Pirates aren't getting FAs that matter.

I don't actually think the Pirates are going to do anything. I was just commenting solely on the FA class, the Pirate comment was tongue in cheek.

They are showing up to their scheduled games, but I’m not sure I would classify what they are doing “playing baseball.”

I thought my 73-89 was looking good about 3 weeks ago. They took losing to new heights.

I grabbed Freddy's prediction tracker from the first post in this thread and then updated it for what people said after Spring Training. Was a good read. Troy went from 80 to 82 wins, to 84 wins, to 91. Shad make like 5 different predictions and each one of them varied by a single game. In general, a bunch of overly optimistic schmucks ITT. @skullman80 is the only one with a chance and by Price Is Right rules is still cutting it close.

The starting lineup on this current losing streak might not win 40 games in a full season.

Good news though, is that the Cubs are, for all intents and purposes, are eliminated. There will probably be some off season fireworks for them.

did I really predict 86 wins? Was I drinking when I posted that?

To show how bad they've been over the last week or so
They’ve allowed 87 runs -- one shy of a modern-day franchise record, according to MLB Network research -- while being out-homered, 24-1, during their nine-game skid.

I will be at the game tonight and again on Saturday. This must be what the emigrants on the Oregon trail felt like by the time they got to soda springs

Can I get a Washington Capitals-like banner for coming in second place again this year?
