I found last night's game to be the most entertaining Pirates game of the season, for all the wrong reasons.

One dude that didn't have more **** in their pants than my one year old could KO half of the opposing team.https://twitter.com/Buccigross/status/1 ... 3346567168There are some many things that happen in those 30 seconds that boil my blood. Zero punches land. Ten guys grab one guy. 75% of guys entering the pile are absolutely terrified.
Just once I want to see a baseball fight involving a dude who has a clue what he's doing and end up looking like an in his prime Mike Tyson.
You can see the exact moment that #28 for the Pirates shits himself.

Well, in his defense for the first time ever, #28 is 54 year old third-base coach Joey Cora. Baseball coaches dressing up like players does make things confusing for a fight. One dude that didn't have more **** in their pants than my one year old could KO half of the opposing team.https://twitter.com/Buccigross/status/1 ... 3346567168There are some many things that happen in those 30 seconds that boil my blood. Then that is a new issue. If you are too old or fraile to hang with the athletes, don't go bombing in there if you can't handle yourself.

Oh geez, sounds like the Pirates just sold Dickerson to the Phillies, no prospect in return.

With the deadline an hour away, the #Pirates have not moved off their ask of Gavin Lux OR Dustin May plus Keibert Ruiz from the #Dodgers for Felipe Vázquez, source tells The Athletic. #Dodgers currently focused on lesser relievers. Situation remains fluid, subject to change.

Best management team in baseball. Dude is probably the best OFer available and they got nothing for him. **** dadholes. The Pirates will not receive a player in return for Dickerson, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports (on Twitter). It’s possible that Pittsburgh is picking up some international funds, then, or that Pirates ownership was simply happy to shed the remainder of his salary.

Burnett says Pirates 'laughingstock of baseball'
https://www.deseretnews.com/article/705 ... eball.html
"What I keep telling the guys here is that the hardest part is that Pittsburgh, as a sports town, is unbelievable," Burnett said. "With what the Steelers and Penguins have done, they're dying for a winner in baseball, too. They're dying to cheer the Pirates on. And now, they don't have anybody they even know. Guys like Jack and Freddy, the faces of the franchise, players they're supposed to be locking up, they're all gone. What's going to bring people to the ballpark now?"

Looks like NH held firm on Felipe. I think that's fine, he still has plenty of years left on that deal. No need to deal if you aren't getting the package he is worth.

maybe the PTBNL is Cutch

also I hope there are deals announced after 4 for Melky and Liriano. What's the point in keeping them?

I think the only problem with what happened yesterday was NH actual saying that they are technically still alive. That's some BS.
Reyes has been really good lately in AAA, and I think NH mentioning him as a replacement for Dickerson is fine. I think he should get another chance to win a bench spot for 2020. I think Kramer should also get a call up soon, and then bring Hayes and Tucker up in September.
Bell's second half collapse has dragged the entire offense down with him. Reynolds and Newman are still holding their own, but I'm not sure they are guys you should just pencil in for 2020. But at the same time, they are simply in the position of assuming that Cole Tucker is going to force his way on to the ML team. I'm not sure that is the case. If Newman continues to competent, I find it difficult to believe that Tucker is going to push his way into the picture. I think you are looking at a similar dynamic with Moran and Hayes. Hayes might not have the impact bat that would demand promotion over Moran, because Moran will likely continue seeming competent. So basically, what you have going forward for the left side of the infield, is a collection of cheap players that can fill the role for years to come. That then demands that there be impact bats elsewhere to contend. So in that, they are a bit lost unless Bell finds his spark. Marte is steady and Polanco can not be counted on. So I think in the least, they will need a good OF bat this offseason to rotate with Polanco and Reynolds. Elias Diaz has been terrible, I think they will need another catcher as well, so there's another place where they have to spend some money.
You can probably find a taker for Kela in the offseason, so that means they really need another back end reliever. I also have no clue what you do with Archer at this point, but since he costs 8M next year, I think they push him out. Honestly, I would rather they fire Hurdle and Searage, add an actual starting pitcher this offseason and try again with the Taillon, Archer, Musgrove, Williams group. There are a lot of reasons to think the issue with the pitching is more to do with scheme than ability.

Kramer and Will Craig have also been getting increased OF reps as of late, but Reyes is the obvious first move. I'll wait to see what the PTBNL for Dickerson is before I dodint too much and I give credit to GMNH for sticking to his guns on Vazquez. I got a good chuckle out of him saying that Melky and Liriano will provide a good veteran presence down the stretch. I guess you can't publically say "they're still here because no one wanted them."
As far as next year, sure they'll probably need another catcher and a good OF bat, but all we're gonna get is more Melky and Lonnie level signings. To expect them to do anything more than that is delusional with this ownership. All the hope I gained for Hayes last season has been wiped out this season. This team has enough questionable bats littered throughout the lineup that a no-bat 3B does nothing for me, no matter how good the defense.
Firing Hurdle and Searage is a yes.

How big of cowards are the Dodgers though. They churn out prospects on a yearly basis, but won't trade their current top prospect for 4+ years of one of the best relievers in the game?
