Yes, agreed. They should have left his big chest rot on the benchI think the more likely story is (1) AB is an insane person; (2) Rosenhaus understood that letting AB behave this way would inure to his benefit if and only if he knew the Steelers would blink and move him for a below market return (that same depressed market created by (1)). The Steelers blinked, and my takeaway from this is that Art II failed. As much as I don't want to go max-Yinzer and talk about what Dan or Art Sr. would have done because the NFL is very different in 2019 than it was for the decades his dad and grandfather were in charge...but its hard to see either of them caving like this.
