I found out how Shiva died and was glad I have not watched.

I’m finding myself actively rooting against every main character. I hope they all die.

I still love how, in the first episode, Rick spouts that "only one person needs to die" meaning Negan. Then they have a chance to kill Negan, don't, and instead kill hundreds of other people. Seems about par for the course with this show. Why even include a line like that?

I think I'm having more fun reading this thread than I did watching the show most of the time.

To highlight the futility of their striving in a world in turmoil and despair. Some sh't like that.

I considered myself a staunch defender of the show, but they've really ruined the show/comic for me this year by doing what they've done.

"Hate watch" is as accurate a description as any. I hate the show. I hate the characters. I hate that I feel obligated to watch. I hate that I'm still optimistic that they'll turn it around and suddenly the show will be good again. I hate that I know they won't.

It's pretty much like watching Italian soccer. It was great at one point, but you keep watching even though you're yelling at the screen these days saying "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?" And there's a hope that it'll get better soon, but you know it won't.

the problem is that when gimple first came on, it DID get better. that set a confusing precedent that i'm still trying to reconcile.

I'm 21 episodes 'behind', as I jumped off at the end of S7E1. I just read this thread because I watched it for far too long and people said I was too critical, so I'm just enjoying the validation of my choice.

Behind is in quotes because I don't plan catch up.

negan saved the show last year. and he's had what...5 minutes of screen time over 4 episodes? that is nothing short of bonkers.

AMC double downed on their viewers prioritizing generic action over thoughtful content. combine that with a clumsy execution of flawed source material, and voila!

I like everything with Neegan in it but he’s barely on the show. The second half of last season and this season has just been garbage.

At this point I’m watching now so I don’t feel obligated to watch it ever again.

did all out war only last 1 day in the comics, too?

we're 4 deep in an 8 episode story. next episode is the saviors. the trash people will be Ep 6 or 7 and then the conclusion will be 8, so i don't think we're going to get much more than just this one raid (or whatever this is).

No it lasted a couple weeks IIRC. A few battles took place, Negan returned volley, etc.

this makes me very worried that this is gonna stretch 16 episodes. i said before that i'm out if they don't wrap this up at the mid season break. after these 4 episodes, i'm very comfortable with that plan.

I think you're going to see that spoiler during the MSF and all-out war get wrapped by the end of this season. Gimple said it would conclude this year.

I bet it doesn't conclude this year and the new saviors just become Simon and gang.

nah. they aren't THAT stupid.

what are the beats of all out war in the comic that still haven't happened yet?

the first raid could be the entire first 8 episodes i suppose, and they could spend 6 more episodes with a little more conventional back and forth. and then episode 15, they
capture negan
and episode 16 they
decide not to kill him
obviously it would be better to have those 2 things happen in episodes 7 and 8. i guess if the midseason finale isn't the end of this fiasco, it would possibly be the deaths that rick is mourning from episode 1's mini flash forward?
