I would think that water vapor would render it useless (even if it were sealed).

Not lying; when I read your statement I subconsciously substituted "Eugene" for "NAN." I assumed you were saying it was explained away in the show by Eugene. My bad.

Has there been any explanation for how the cars are still running? Gas has an effective life up about 6-8 months. They're like 24+ months into this now, right?

Is this true though? I'd love to know for my own post apocalyptic books. I googled it but results were mixed. I saw some sites saying regular unleaded had a short shelf live but people had diesel for 10+ years and it was still usable. For my books, I'd prefer there to be no running vehicles but I don't want someone to nitpick me (like I do to TWD). ;)

Yes, unleaded is good for about 6-8 months in the tank of a car. Not sure if it can be prolonged if sealed. You can prolong it with a fuel additive like Stabil, but that's proactive thinking that these characters haven't demonstrated. Can't comment on diesel.

Well, the main premise of the show is the dead coming back to life as killing machines....suspend some belief!

I've used that up on how these hordes are still viable years after the bodies would've rotted away.

What's the logical argument for a zombie having an appetite, but not being able to reproduce?

Also: do they poop?

I talk about this in one of my books. Zombie toilet humor. I'm so classy.

Thanks for the info on gasoline. I'm going to take the "no running vehicles" angle for the 4th book in my series now. And if people complain, I'll tell them to blame dodint.

Maybe they're survivors who almost made it but ended up dying.

We don't know how much more of the world is still out there and alive.

There can't be a very high number of new re-animations, at this point.

a show that cared about being interesting would explore this topic.

eugene could have started sending scouts out to different locations, collecting data with pre-outbreak populations vs current amount of walkers and develop some data model that could outline what they're still up against. but again...only if the show WANTS to be good.

I'll qualify this by saying I've only read the source material through the first compendium which ended at the prison, so I'm not sure how much the comics really delve into this kind of stuff after that point.

That said, I would love to see the show start to explore some of these things.

I know the central theme of the show/story in general is how humanity exists and evolves in the face of something that it can't really explain. I also know Kirkman has expressed in interviews that he really hasn't thought much about the "science" end of the details - what caused the outbreak, is there a cure, etc.

In the interests of introducing SOMETHING new to the how, though, I hope they start to look into these sorts of things. I actually like the way they've used parts of this season to explain the motives of the Saviors and shed some light on the dynamics of that group, but once this all wraps up, the next antagonistic group they introduce will be just more of the same general stuff.

Have things been THAT decimated that we're at least a few years removed from the outbreak and there isn't SOME sort of more widespread communication? No one has figured out how to get power back on to larger areas? There isn't anyone even within one of the groups itself to "study" some of the walkers...even one that's been "killed"?

I'd just like to see some more of this kind of stuff. I know survival is of paramount importance, but if we were just several months to a year in the story timeline removed from Alexandrians having dinner parties behind their walls and Carol baking cookies for everyone, I'd like to think at least someone out there would be working towards a bigger picture.

Or maybe not. I guess we'll see.

They were doing that at the Governor's town remember. That was the last time they did anything like that.

Honestly, I now believe Scott Gimple was asked to end this show. There's no way it goes more than 10 seasons. They've decided to diverge from the comics completely past AOW.

I think last night's episode solidified my belief that this should probably turn into a DVR and fast forward through stuff.

Wondering how much of this was based on chandler riggs being a garbage actor. If he was passable, could they kill Rick instead and put Carl in charge? But he's soap opera level. Which means he can't headline a show.

There have been reports for quite a while, at least a year, that Riggs wanted off so he could go to college. I believe that was the only reason for this "twist". I don't think anyone involved with the show cares whether the cast can act or not. They certainly don't care about the writing and directing.
