Phillies have agreed to a three-year contract with Andrew McCutchen, source says. Deal is pending a physical. McCutchen's three-year deal with the Phillies expected to be in the range of about $45 million.

I can't imagine paying that much for what amounts to be a third or fourth outfielder for the Phillies.

Of course this is the kind of thing people have in mind when they want the Pirates to spend money

Harper's ask must be comical at this juncture.

Not a bad arm for the pen
I can't comfortably conclude that lyes and his career 5.28 era are in fact, good,

Lyles numbers as a reliever are pretty good.

Wasn't he a .250 hitter last year (yeah, I'm not using advanced stats)? I just looked and he hit .255.

5.28 era in 113 innings?

Respectfully disagree

He was decent last year. Not bad wasn't a ringing endorsement, btw

Though I'm surprised to see those numbers. I was speaking just off watching him pitch a few times in the past and remembering he had good stuff. Didn't realize that he got lit up consistently pre-2018

He pitched well in relief last year. He also is said to have made some kind of adjustment and started working more off of his curve-ball with greater success. He is likely the Edgar Santana replacement.

Lyles played for the Rockies for a while, too. That's got to hurt your ERA.

Did anyone else read GMNH's comments on the Nova trade? It wreaked of penny pinching.
