Phillies have agreed to a three-year contract with Andrew McCutchen, source says. Deal is pending a physical. McCutchen's three-year deal with the Phillies expected to be in the range of about $45 million.

I can't imagine paying that much for what amounts to be a third or fourth outfielder for the Phillies.
Of course this is the kind of thing people have in mind when they want the Pirates to spend money

Wasn't he a .250 hitter last year (yeah, I'm not using advanced stats)? I just looked and he hit .255.

Though I'm surprised to see those numbers. I was speaking just off watching him pitch a few times in the past and remembering he had good stuff. Didn't realize that he got lit up consistently pre-2018

He pitched well in relief last year. He also is said to have made some kind of adjustment and started working more off of his curve-ball with greater success. He is likely the Edgar Santana replacement.
