Mayans M.C.
Anyone else tuning into the Sons Of Anarchy spinoff tonight? I'm very excited for this show. Not a big fan of spinoff's, but I believe Kurt Sutter can make this show just as good as SOA. Great article to remind us of what happened at the end of SOA and bring us up to speed to where Mayans F.C. starts three years after the death of Jax. https://www.tvguide.com/news/sons-of-anarchy-mayans-mc/

Yep, I'll be tuning in. Hoping it will be good, but keeping my expectations low.
On a SOA sidenote, saw Theo Rossi (Juice) post yesterday about how it was 10 years ago to the day that SOA started. Which is crazy - doesn't seem that long ago.

Is it written by the same guy? If so it’s gonna get stale fast for me.
Things are going well
Gang runs into problem that they have to talk to guy about
Guy runs
Sweet dad rock during chase
Catch guy, he makes things worse
DRAMA
Take a bunch of guys and solve issue
Drink at club house until next week

I'm fairly skeptical. Maybe Sutter has learned some new tricks, but if it's just the same thing with different faces, I'm out. I only stuck with SoA to see the end because I was invested in the characters at that point... And the last couple episodes delivered... to a point.

Thought the first episode was solid. I'm hooked for the rest of the season.

Episode 2 was good, but had two loud music bike chases.
I don't see this running more than 2-3 seasons.
Special Guest appearance by Plastic Hands Chucky.

How long are the episodes? Is he still doing the 80-90 minute thing?

Is Mindy Kaling there?

DVR said 1 hour, 17 minutes for episode 2.
And, no, no Mindy Kaling here either.

Watched episode 2... still interested enough to see where it goes.

Tonight was the fifth episode of the season. I think this is a great show so far, multiple storylines going on and they keep up with all of them every episode. Don't want to spoil anything. Anyone else besides myself still watching?

I'm still watching. I didn't see last night's episide yet but it's on the DVR. As far as the show so far...it's ok I guess. Nothing great. I don't feel invested in any of the characters yet. It follows the same formula as SOA almost identical....just the characters aren't nearly as compelling IMO. I'll give it to the end of the season but it's just kind of mediocre right now.
SOA was one if my favorite shows ever and it took like half a season to get going but just not getting the same vibe with Mayans.

I'm still watching. Haven't seen last night's episode yet, but I'm starting to warm to the characters/story. (Mainly EZ, in that he is hot AF)
I liked the brief "easter eggs" w/r/t Sons - i.e. the Gemma flashback, Robert Patrick, Chucky, and of course the Teller-Morrow phone number.
But I think there are some pieces that are setting it up now to have some great plot twists, action, etc. EZ being a "good guy" in a bad spot, the twist with the brother going against the club, the stuff with Emily (which to me is the most "meh" storyline), EZ's dad.
The scene a few eps back with the Asians in the casino room - oof. Was like watching SOA all over again.
Coco is starting to become a lovable character.
Oh - and I just saw that it was picked up for Season 2.

I'm still watching but didn't see last night's show yet. My wife isn't in to it and so I have to record and watch when I can.
I think I said earlier I see this going maybe 3 seasons, but not much more.

We liked the pilot enough to DVR the series, but haven't gotten back to it yet.
