I wouldn't mind seeing two number ones battle it out for championship. Virginia vs Duke would be interesting.
Eh, I've seen that game twice already this season and Virginia couldn't figure out Duke either time. Given how they've played so far in this tournament, I don't think they'd be able to figure them out the 3rd time either.

Interesting thing on CBS right now -- Virginia finally gets back to the Final Four for the first time in 35 years and CBS is showing the story of UMBC's win over Virginia in last year's tournament.

You might be shocked to hear this, but UConn won the women's championship, with a miraculous victory, AS A TWO SEED, over Louisville.

This is an interesting conference strategy:

https://deadspin.com/conference-usa-is- ... 1826386373
ext season, C-USA’s men’s basketball schedule will look nothing like that of any other Division I conference. Instead of releasing a hard-set regular season conference schedule, C-USA will seed its teams after the opening 14 games of the conference slate. The conference will then face its best teams off against one another over the next four games, with the end goal of placing multiple teams in the NCAA tournament and securing higher seeds for those teams. It’s the old “iron sharpens iron” adage, basically, with some added strength-of-schedule boost built in.
Perhaps predictably I took absolutely no notice of how this turned out.

Edit: damn, I had to cheat to figure out who got their bid. And yup this didn’t help.

No comments on Auburn's fantastic performance today? I completely counted them out after that torn ACL for Okeke. Gutsy performance today.

And now Sparty wins!! Woohooooooo.

I want to pull for Auburn because of my brother in law but man Bruce Pearl is so greasy.

Virginia could not have been handed a better trip to the championship.

Today's impressions...

--Those two guards Auburn has -- Harper and Brown -- were OUTSTANDING today. Not just on the offensive end but defensively, they kept Herro and Quickley, and Hagans under wraps. McLemore woke up on the inside and Auburn did a great job on the boards, which is something I really didn't expect. Kentucky played that game like they were entitled to an all-time 6-point lead. Then when they got hit in the mouth, they couldn't hit back. I just can't figure out why they'd guard Harper 35 feet from the basket when they knew that no one had the speed to keep him from getting around the corner. Tigers will be a handful for Virginia on Saturday. And if you haven't seen the pics from Toomer's Corner on the Auburn campus, go find them.

--I thought Sparty would have the inside force to be able to handle Duke and they did for the most part. But no one's stopping Zion when he goes to the basket, that's just a 100% fact. Izzo couldn't have dreamed of a better setup on the play coming out of the timeout of having his best shooter coming off a screen for a wide open 3. Sparty and TTech is going to be a freaking slogfest and probably just as exciting.

--Four great regional final games this weekend. But in the end, the biggest thing that stuck out was that fundamentals still rule the day. Kentucky, Duke, and Purdue all lost games because they had failures at the free throw line. For all the glitz and glamour of an alley-oop and kick-out 3's, the free throws and good defense are still pretty damn important.

--Look at the 4 teams left. What do they have in common? None are part of the one-and-done factory. All four teams are pretty well-experienced and have juniors and seniors that have been down these roads before. At first glimpse, I like Virginia vs. Sparty for the championship with Sparty winning but it's been a bunch of surprises these last 4 days so it wouldn't be too crazy to think Auburn and TTech will be seeing each other on Monday.

Arkansas - helping other coaches to get their raises since 200X!
According to college basketball sources Arkansas (@ArkRazorbacks) officials have been pursuing another high profile candidate and have never spoken to @UHCougarMBK Coach Kelvin Sampson. UH has offered Sampson a six-year contract worth $18 million to continue coaching the Cougars
