Anyone got some nice shelving for rough totes? Garage or basement?

I'm looking to get some storage going and the more I look, the more I'm wondering if I should just get some 2x4s, some plywood, and build them myself.

I just bought my second one of these for our garage. I’ve bought cheap shelves in the past and regretted it. These are sturdy and hold all of our bins perfectly.

I'm debating that myself c2i. Was definitely planning on building shelves in my garage, but after building one 4x2x8 shelf in my shed, I may be priced out of doing it.

That's intriguing. For a similar sized DIY shelf made of wood, you may come close to the same price. A 4x8 sheet of plywood will cost around $50 alone.

This is a great shelving unit and was exactly what I was looking for. Super happy I bought it. It's not cheap, but I think the extra money was well-spent. I would recommend buying a rubber mallet to assist with assembly.

Edit: I see the Lowes version is on sale. I'd be all over that.

I have built ins across the entire back wall of my garage. Theyre awesome. Even if its more expensive, you cant beat the sturdy wood quality and custom fit.

Greensburg is getting a Menards. It's going above Best Buy where that Sheraton/Ramada used to be. I have never, ever set foot near that hotel and never understood why it was there.

Menards is awesome, it was my go to when I lived in Wisconsin.

I went to a wedding at that hotel. Seemed pretty nice if I remember correctly. I got pretty slammed rocking out to an 80s cover band in the hotel bar after the reception.

We had our prom there.

They only take a few minutes to assemble, and they're sturdy as hell.

I ordered the Lowe’s ones today as they were $40 off. Pick em up tomorrow.

So over the weekend I made an accent wall for the bit above our fireplace. Maybe 20' sq of area covered with some MDF and pine trim molding slats. I started it on Saturday, and screwed every single thing up. Woke up on Sunday and was resolved to get it right, and did so. It was immensely satisfying, as that was the first sort of 'maker' project I've ever really undertaken.

The project involved the purchase of some power tools, and I am looking for a new project; I know just enough about this to get myself hurt.

Figure this is the best thread for it... snow blower. I live at the top of a pretty steep hill. Driveway is about 100 ft long, and I've got ~100 feet of sidewalk to care for as well. What should I look for in a good snowblower?

I have a Toro Power Clear 721R, and would absolutely recommend it. Plows through any type of snow, and can throw it far enough to clear either side of my double car driveway. This is a single stage. If you want something to help with more control on a steep hill, you'd probably want to look at a 2-stage or better that you can actually put into gear.

It's at a pretty decent price point too. I wasn't sure how much to expect to spend.

It is, but the steep hill thing makes me think you really would be better off with a 2-stage. They're definitely easier to control on steep hills, and a lot of them throw further since there are two augers. It's a big jump up in price, though.

Also worth noting that I purchased my Toro from https://www.snowblowersource.com, and the dropped it off right to my driveway. The price was good, and I'd recommend them.

I’ve seen them do that on This Old House using pex buried in the concrete. No thanks to the price tag.

One of those Pex lines springs a leak, and you're basically repaying for it again.

Better to go with a steel tube with a wire run through it. That's what we did at my old job to heat the guideway for those rubber-tired airport trains.
