Out of curiosity what do you guys use the propane for? We have a standard size tank (120 gallon?) outside for a fireplace and gas range. Wondering if it's worth it to bring more propane appliances online.

Everything. Stove, furnace, water heater, and dryer. Without checking, I’d say that we average about $150/month in propane, keeping in mind that we only refill 6 or so times a year, so it’s a bunch of larger payments.

We only use our propane for water and heat.

Yeah I would love to have a gas range. Thankfully it's one of the newer electric ranges with the coils under the surface.

It’d be pretty easy to run gas to your kitchen, I’d think...

Probably...we actually have a propane fireplace in our finished basement, but the one guy disconnected the line when he was inspecting it because the line to the tank outside wasn't rated for outdoor use. Haven't gotten around to re-piping that yet.

Wait, do you have multiple lines running from your house to the tank, or are you saying that the one line running from the tank to the house isn’t code? That’s a major problem.

No, there were multiple lines. One main line for the water heater and furnace, the other for the fire place in the basement. The latter wasn't to code...I believe the fireplace was added later.

Trying to replace the parts in my toilet tank and I can't get the one damn nut off (hehe) the bottom of the tank. Just in a tight spot and it's a little grimy/rusted on. So frustrating. Take 2 tomorrow when I have more energy and patience
Got everything disassembled, replaced the parts, re-assembled and have a slight leak. So close

That’s a weird setup then. I assume this is an older installation then? I’ve never seen a system that didn’t run off a single regulator at the house, with the interior runs all connecting to it inside.

Just paid $900 to run a gas line to the kitchen and laundry room. Once our electric range craps out, I'm splurging on the gas range.

Gas pipe isn't cheap. That said a gas range is the only way to cook. Which is why I went with a propane tank and gas line in our new home

We have a split HVAC system and a thermostat upstairs and one downstairs. Is it pointless to get a nest for only the downstairs? Should I just bite the bullet and buy two?

The Ecobee has room sensors, but I'm not sure they are intelligent enough to do zone heating//cooling.

The had flex line put in as the cast iron pipe was much more expensive.

And I agree with the gas range. The electric is just too hard to manage the heat right. The oven is ok, but the stove drives me nuts.

We have flex from the tank to the regulator, and then cast iron into and throughout the basement, with the runs being flex.

Anyone here own a Mr. Buddy portable propane heater? I'm thinking of getting a Big Buddy and using 1lb. propane tanks for when I work on my car in the winter.

I have an arc fault breaker that continuously trips. I think it went bad. I called an electrician and they suggested I just replace it with a standard breaker. Is that acceptable solution?

What is on this breaker? They're required for bedrooms.

This is newer code, FWIW. I'd still follow it. They're like $40, and I'd be inclined to simply replace it before doing anything else. Takes all of 5 minutes.
