I am curious, though - it’s not hooked up to anything? You sure about that? I assume you mean it has power coming from the panel, but doesn’t go anywhere from the switch? Because it sounded to me like a switched outlet.

Oh, sorry, I just meant it's not hooked up to a light. I think the switch was moved somewhere else decades ago. There's power running into and out of the box, with the power going to the new switch.I am curious, though - it’s not hooked up to anything? You sure about that? Ah, gotcha, then yeah that’s a simple swap. I’ve done it at my parents house, personally.

I had no idea you could turn a switch into an outlet.
I can't think of a reason to do this anywhere in my house, though. I have a big bank of switches that appear to go nowhere but it's not like I need an outlet right at the front door at nipple height.

I can’t speak to Tony’s situation, but at my parents house, it was a switch above/near a countertop. Made more sense to turn it into an outlet since that’s where power tools are plugged in now in the basement.I had no idea you could turn a switch into an outlet.

I only have 3 outlets in this part of my basement. I should run some more, but until then I figure a 4th, even at an odd height, can come in handy.

Our kitchen is pretty small, but for some reason has 3 switches. Two of which are on the same wall about 4 feet apart. If I turned one into an outlet to run the vacuum or whatever, would it just turn on/off based on the position of the remaining two switches?

Off the top of my head, I think it really depends on which switch you were talking about. To me, if it’s the first in the series (closest to the panel, I mean), that you should be able to replace with an outlet because you’re still feeding another switch down the line. You wouldn’t be able to do that with switch 2 or 3.Our kitchen is pretty small, but for some reason has 3 switches. Two of which are on the same wall about 4 feet apart. I just did this a few weeks ago. Old kitchen layout had a 3 switch panel: each for a different set of lights. One of those light sets I got rid of when we put in new cabinets, and it just sat there empty. I just disconnected the hot wire at the switch and left the light leads buried in the wall.
Replaced it with a new outlet with USB jacks and it's worked great.
Tony, as long as the white, neutral wire is still accessible, you can do the same. If it's just one wire in, one wire out, and the neutral is buried somewhere else, you won't be able to convert to an outlet.

haha, not even sure it's a code violation tbh. Right now there's no difference between what I have and just dropping some loose Romex in the walls. Not connected on either end.

Cleaning up the leaves with the wind today not my brightest idea. 5 bags filled and it looks like we did zilch because of the crazy wind.

That’s why I love my township - they accept both bags and leaves at the curb (vacuum). I blow them all to the fence, take them onto tarps, and then drag them to the curb. So much faster and easier than bag nonsense.

Today it wouldn't matter if I blew them to the curb or not they were getting blown back 5 seconds later.

Do you all have that many leaves that mulching them every day or two isn't an option? I live in the country. Both dog poop and leaves get mowed.

I mulch my leaves. While the wind was annoying, it did blow down pretty much everything that was left on the trees, so I was able to mulch everything and can now declare Law and Leaf Season 2022 at Shyster's house closed.

Can’t really mulch 23 bags worth of leaves. It’s just be smaller leaves on top of the grass. Besides, about half of those leaves were in landscaped areas or under bushes. Can’t exactly run a lawn mower in there
