That could be a lot of things. Bad wall switch, but safety sensor, bad relay on the logic board. You'd have to go through each one individually until you found the culprit.

I also go through an astronomical amount of lightbulbs on that opener (a Chamberlain 1/2 hp, about 12 years old). It can't use LED or CFL bulbs, so only incandescents...and it vibrates so much that the filaments break every few months. Even the heavy duty bulbs aren't much better. It could be the heat of the garage, too...which kills our car batteries as well.

this sounds close to my situation. Door opener is about 10-15 years old. I had an incandescent in there, and it vibrates them to the point where I'm swapping bulbs 2-3x a year. Tried to go with an LED bulb since I was tired of walking in the dark and it was all I had on my shelf.

Might look kind of silly, but maybe use a light socket extender to get it out of the housing? The flex portion may absorb some of the vibration.

i have trex post cap lights on my deck. they stopped working all of the sudden. the timer is still receiving power, the transformer is good. i rewired some of the lights and couldnt get it to work even by bypassing some of the splitters. odd

Getting quotes for a new roof and all five bidders (highly rated and recommended) referred to that overhang area as "Eves."

Welp, we went with an 18 SEER variable speed heat pump and all new ductwork for a shade under $12K. No heat for three days in early December during installation. Because they are tearing out the old ducts and air handler in the attic (and opening a hole in the ceiling to widen the return), we're probably not going to decorate the house for Christmas until after the job is done. I don't want dust, sheetrock dust, and insulation all over that stuff. Honestly, I'm kind of relieved about it. Not having to drag that **** out of the garage only to put it away a few weeks later. Merry Christmas to me.

If you're zoned R-1 in Unity Township can you operate a small business out of your home or do you have to request a variance? It shouldn't be this hard to find out, but Unity Townships ordinances are really poorly published and I can't find out what their definition of "R-1" really is. It's obviously single family residential but I'm trying to figure out the restrictions. I'll eventually end up calling but I was curious if anyone here knew.

In general, you should not smell propane/gas at any time. That tells me you might have an issue where a little bit of gas is leaking--generally the flame will burn up all the gas before it ever has a chance to get to where you can smell it, but perhaps it's not firing fast enough? We had an issue a few weeks back where our laundry room (and only our laundry room) smelled like propane. It wasn't a terribly strong smell, and it only lasted a few days (shortly after we got our propane filled), but that is never a welcome smell.

Your thermocouple may need replaced. The only time our water heater had a gas smell was right before we had to replace the thermocouple.

Thank god for breaker boxes. Had to replace a light fixture in my basement. Flipped what I thought were the proper switches, take fixture down and flip over to unscrew the attached wires, sparks and I mean SPARKS, then my wife asking why the bedroom lights went off.

Turns out this light and only this light is somehow on he circuit for the bedrooms and not for the basement.

Guess I’ll have to invest in one of those tools to test if a wire is live. Still replaced the light and it works beautifully.

Our new heat pump and ductwork was supposed to be installed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week, but they ran into trouble on another job (closet floor and wall where an air handler was kept was rotted right down to the floor joists) so the install was postponed until Monday. They didn't want us to be without heat all weekend.

It works out because it was really cold (for here) Wednesday and Thursday nights (below freezing), and space heaters would only work so well. Next week the lows are in the 50s, so it won't be as bad.

Can't wait to see how well this variable speed heat pump works this winter. It's weird what gets exciting in middle age.
