Well I popped the GFCI off. Everything is connected correctly. Went back to the outlet that I believe is feeding the dead GFCI outside. Everything there looks correct as well. I'm at a loss. Could the outlet that is feeding the GFCI outside be bad? It is working properly. However it does not appear to be feeding any power out to the gfci. Additionally, I bought a new GFCI thinking that maybe the outlet was bad. Hope the new one up and still the same thing, open hot. I'm at a loss..

Got any romex laying around? If it was me, at this point I'd rig up a test wire to the outside outlet. Being that the wire penetrates a wall, mouse chewing is a possibility...

I just picked up a voltage tester from a buddy. I'm fairly certain there is not voltage out there because I haven't gotten zapped, but I'm gonna test it to be safe. My next move after that will be to pull the romex back through the wall I suppos

If I flip the hots on the interior feeding outlet I'm disrupting the circuit right?

Does the voltmeter show voltage to the gfci?

WTF happened to furnace filter pricing? I need to order more, and the same 12 pack that I previously paid $35 for is now over $50.

A 12 pack for $50 sounds like a steal to me. What brand/size are you using? I'm paying about $50 for 4. I get the Filtrete MPR 1000, Micro Allergen Defense 4 pack from Amazon. My system takes 20x24s. I'd love to find something cheaper if the quality is comparable.

I buy from filter buy. A pack of two cost me like 40$. My system takes 16x25x5 I believe.

I buy merv 8 to be less taxing on the system. They last between 4-6 months though so I only go through like 2 a year...3 at most.

I buy MERV 8 16x25x1s, nothing fancy. I have been getting Rheem filters, but HD doesn't sell them anymore, so I'm switching to their own brand's MERV 8-11 filters for $11 per 3-pack.

We paid a little more for our HVAC install in 2020 to have a UV sterilizer installed. We only buy the cheapo filters now because nothing survives long enough to make it through the vents

Dumb HVAC question...

My HVAC (and even the one at my old house) had one of those washable blue filters on the inside of the door. Is that the only filter or should I be finding something that needs replaced as well?

Filters should be on all return registers

Hard pass on this. Why would you want to have to replace multiple filters when all return ducts literally lead to the same place - the filter right in front of the furnace/AC?

Hard disagree. One filter at your main return/near the furnace is plenty. No need to choke your system with a filter on every return register.

I'd reckon that most HVAC pro's would say having a filter at every return just makes your system run less efficiently.

It’s the same amount of junk though. Replace one filter once a month or three filters once a quarter? Plus it keeps your ductwork clean. And if you are choking your system, don’t use the moving blanket thickness ones.

I only replace my main filter twice a year (3 times at most), and it's the only one that I use (I check it monthly to verify its still good to go). It's a 5 inch thick filter though that is built into the system with a filter case between the return and the blower.

I still don't see the need to have a filter at every return, but whatever works I guess haha.

I've been replacing mine every 1-2 months, but will probably move to quarterly depending on what the filter looks like after the initial 3 months.

In most households, that's the only consumable. I avoided washable filters because I found myself too lazy to actually do that, lol.

Need some help figuring out how to organize my garage.

Can't decide between the following:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Flow-Wall-M ... /204181024

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rubbermaid- ... 8-23-12140

Obviously there is a big cost differential. However, I like the flexibility of the first system - I can change it as I need to without having to put additional holes in my walls.

I'd like to hang various lawn/garden tools, ladder, etc. Also beekeeping equipment, suits, etc.

Any thoughts? Other ideas?
