Our disposal sounds like a jet engine taking off. I can’t wait for it to die so I can buy the quietest model on the market

Just spent a couple grand on bathroom finishings and fixtures. Contractor starts in two weeks. About three more grand to spend. Fingers crossed.

Dumb question, we have a rollaway dishwasher with a butcher block top. It just started leaking and I don’t want to buy new yet but the Facebook marketplace mostly only has built in dishwashers. Anyone know if you can just put the butcher block on top of the built in version?

Not without making supports for it. There are no natural mounting points for a top of any sort, save some front clips that are flexible. Then you’d have to deal with the other 3 sides being completely exposed.

Also, TIL that there’s such a thing as mobile dishwashers (insert spouse joke here).

My MIL has one. It's pretty nifty. It hooks to the kitchen faucet

We had one growing up for a short time. That thing always leaked where it hooked up to the sink though.

I legit think my mom rented it from rent-a-center. We were poor lol

@meow

All quarter round end pieces touched up. Check that 8 year old bad boy off the old list.

Also patched our inflatable Bumble, which seems to be holding up well. Trying to dry him out in this gorgeous weather.

Those of you with a Ring: do you have the general motion alerts on? My house sits up a hill overlooking the road. It's not particularly busy but with general motion alerts on, I'll get an alert any time a car goes down the street. I can adjust the motion zone to not include the road, but then the zone will cut off at about waist level when somebody is on the porch. Will that change how I get notified? I'm assuming I won't get the person alerts anymore, but I should still get motion alerts so it wouldn't matter, right?

I don't know what you mean by general motion alerts? I've been a Ring user for years, so if you clarify I can help. In 'Smart Alerts', I have 'Person' alerts enabled, but 'Other Motion' and 'Package' disabled. I have motion sensitivity set at around 33%. I do have zones drawn out to skip people walking on the sidewalk.

I'll piggyback this current convo with a side question. Does Ring sell additional cameras? I don't really need a full security system like ADT or SimpliSafe (use promo code blah blah blah) but I would like a motion sensor camera installed in my garage when I'm done renovating it in the spring. One covering each exterior door to the house, really. But not from a doorbell perspective, one that I can discretely put in the rafters or whatever.

They do, yes... but discretely? Their standalone cameras are very bulky, IMO.

They constantly stream back to a server though, right? So if detected and vandalized it's already too late.

They do constantly stream, yes, and would be recording up until the network connection was lost.

Mostly I think it's going to document my death when I drop a car on myself. Should make my wife's insurance claim go real smooth.

I meant "other motion." My bad, I'm a noob. The issue is I want to pick up activity in my driveway, but with just person alerts enabled, I wasn't able to get anything. Somebody had to be all the way up on my porch to trigger an alert. I'm guessing it'll just take some trial and error but I was trying to set it up from the office, which now seems stupid.

Yeah, it's all trial and error. Play with sensitivity, too. Set it and then go walk in the area you're referring to you until you get the result. That's basically how I fine tuned it.

Woke up to a nice large puddle coming from the dishwasher. After extensive troubleshooting it appears the diverter valve connection has failed. Seems relatively simple to replace thanks to a good YouTube from an online appliance repair shop. Annoying as this thing is barely 5 years old and the comments online insist this is a very common failure

Welp nothing I do will pick up motion in the driveway. The only thing I can figure is due to the height of the porch and distance of the driveway, that particular area is out of range. Oh well. If it really bothers me I can always pick up a security camera.

Wife decided when she came home from work today she wanted to paint. After a trip to home Depot the 3rd bedroom has it's first coat of paint on lol.

 ...it wasn't all that bad. I hate taping off more than anything.

She is working from more home now so she needs a dedicated office area and not to just sit in the dining room.

The 3rd bedroom never gets used unless someone crashes for a night (which has happened like twice since we moved here).

So she ordered herself a desk and we got rid of the old queen bed and will get a smaller futon or day bed to use if someone needs to stay the night. Desk is coming today so that will get built tonight lol

She wanted to paint to brighten up the room a bit...since she'll be in there frequently now. When she gets an idea that means it happening almost immediately.
