Yep, or the houses were all built around the same time and need new roofs.

We had another hail storm here last night, albeit a minor one where we were. My friend about 2 miles away thinks he's going to need a new roof as he's got a pound or two of roof shingle pebbles out of a couple of his gutter downspouts. Ugh.

I’m surprised I don’t see more metal roofs, to be honest. There are two houses in my neighborhood that actually have them.

I'm hoping our roof is good for another 10-12 years or so. There are a handful of houses in our neighborhood with metal roofs. I like how they look in general. Curious as to how they look 10 years from now.

Will be something to consider when we place ours down the road... hopefully way down the road.

I like how metal roofs look too but don’t know about the noise factor. Also don’t think the mrs would approve

I wonder if they’re installed with some sort of padded backer board or something to deaden the noise. That sounds like it’d alleviate the issue.

Yeah, they aren't noisy. My brothers in-laws have a camp we visited and their cabin has a metal rough. No extra noise at all.

I'm going to call my insurance folks in a bit, but I'll ask here while I wait.

I have a $2,000 deductible on my homeowners policy. That storm we had last night knocked shingles off the roof and allowed water to incur into the attic and eventually down to my living room ceiling. Enough that it drained out of the light fixtures and caused damage to the ceiling. I'm not sure if this will significantly exceed the $2,000. If I initiate a claim but ultimately do not have them pay out to make the repairs does that still cause my premium to increase for using the claim service?

It's incredible how quickly water damage can get worse. Hope you're able to get a painless as possible fix.

I had a metal roof put on house last year, no noise issues.

My friend sells metal at his business and he said to always be sure you do standing seam, not corrugated, as the metal will last a lifetime but the rubber on the fasteners disintegrates and then causes leaks. Standing seam means no screws on the flat part of the roof.

I have the Ryobi 40v edger and trimmer. You messed up not getting the trimmer

I can now admit this. The AFS on my B&D is no longer working, so I have to open up the spool cover and manually release the stuck line every few minutes. Gonna cut my losses here.

I did, yes. Ultimately, the $160 price and the fact that the EGO has a brushless motor pushed it over the edge for me.

Had two mice in the garage/basement last night. My wife is not pleased. Murphy put his beagle nose to good use though. Gonna get some traps today and see if there are stragglers.

Our flooring/kitchen remodel project should be coming to an end in the next week or two. It's been a pain to get this done right and in a timely manner, but it is what it is.

The contractor bid on this project in May 2021. I put an initial deposit of 25% down to "guarantee my spot" which was supposed to be August/September 2021 but turned out to be April this year. Whatever, things happened.

The contractor told me this should be a 2 week job. I figured it would be a full crew with multiple trades working 7-5 every day. It has definitely not been the case at all. Even with the limited crew and working approximately 6 hour days, I'm sure the hours he's put in have gone way beyond what he originally quoted. It's been over a month, but I'd say they've been working maybe half capacity in regards to the crew and hours.

My question is, is he in the right to ask for more money, or is what he bid the final say? Pretty sure it's the latter, but I do anticipate him trying to squeeze more money out of me than I expect to pay, so want to make sure it's common for the initial quote (less any material/scope adders) to be the final quote.

Woke up today to a decent sized puddle at the washing machine. Wife washed about 3 loads yesterday so I started looking for obvious places and couldn't find any. Ran another load through and still not much but noticed it pooling under a few things sitting by the washer. Wtf I thought...

It was a pinhole leak in a jug of distilled water for my CPAP machine. I'll take it.

That's where I am but I have a feeling he's going to say certain things weren't anticipated. Not my issue

Found somebody selling the EGO unit (brand new) on eBay for $160, so I grabbed one.

Initial thoughts after one use: plenty of power. I kept it on low the entire time, and didn’t even really go full throttle. The spool feed system is nice and smooth, and the telescoping/rotating handle is amazing. Really helps you get comfortable switching between cutting and edging.

Speaking of edging, it’s going to take some getting used to. My B&D’s all had guide bars that you’d hook on the interior of the curb/sidewalk to get a perfect line. No such thing on the EGO, so it’s all freehand. May have to edge going the opposite direction to make it easier. I may look at removing the edging guide from the B&D and connecting it to the EGO, too.
