No real need with Google Maps, IMO. They can just figure out how large the roof is that way.Source of the post What's crazy is they don't even measure anything - you tell them the model home and they can quote a price over the phone, as they've done dozens of houses from this builder in our area.

Our Google Maps view is an empty lot currently. They did get the street in there a week before we moved.

My parents just had a new roof put on and their guy did just that. Said he didn't need to come on site, just took a look on Google Maps.No real need with Google Maps, IMO. They may have an EagleView subscription. It's similar to Google Maps but has actual structure data.

When we moved in we were the first completed house in the street. Signed up for a lawn service that every month said they were coming out and then couldn’t find us except to mail the bill. It was funny, the carpet guys this morning said they couldn’t find the address but it’s five years now. They must have been using MapQuest or something. Our Google Maps view is an empty lot currently. My gutters and downspouts were a $1,500 add on this past spring.Getting prices on gutters, yet another thing a new home builder should include or at least give as an option, and it's ridiculous. Is there a metal shortage?
Looking in our Facebook neighborhood page, a similar model home to ours (slightly smaller) got them installed for $450 in 2020. The two guys that I've received quotes from are $1100 and $1150. One of these guys did the $450 install for my neighbor. I've got a third call into another company (Gutter-Done LLC lol!!!) and still waiting to hear back from him, but I bet it's in that ballpark.

Had one break maybe 10 years ago. You don’t want to be in the garage when one of those puppies breaks.

Mine have steel cables run through them, which I believe are a safety measure in the event of breakage.

Yeah, everyone's springs should have this properly installed and secured. I've never understood why so many are scared to replace the springs. You put the garage door up, and the tension is removed from the spring. It's not going to shoot like a rocket, nor is it difficult to get the new one on.Mine have steel cables run through them, which I believe are a safety measure in the event of breakage.

I'm not handy in the slightest so I'd just pay someone else to do it. I'm sure I just jinxed myself even though are garage doors were just installed in 2019 from the labels I can see.

We had a heavy, large door with two heavy springs. Both were replaced and installed for $550 last year. That also included two hinges being replaced, now that I think of it.

Yeah, installing those on my own? Woof. I'm pretty handy, but I'm also a know your limits and understand pay the man jobs. It would take more of my time to read, watch videos, do all the homework, acquire the spring (put in the time to make sure it's the correct spring and size). I called the guy, he got there the next day, did the install in about an hour, boom. Done.

What maintenance should be done on garage doors/openers/springs? Because I don't do it.

Spray some wiener slide on the track? Dunno what else there would be to maintain, TBH.
