I decided to put some shiplap in our powder room since I can’t work outside because of Florence. I cracked the damn toilet tank putting it back together. What are the odds this thing is impossible to replace and I have to get a whole new toilet?

They make a silicone epoxy for repairing toilet tanks. Is the crack high or low? I'd probably be game for repairing it if the crack is mid-high on the tank, but not if it's near the bottom.

You could give JB WaterWeld a try: https://www.amazon.com/J-B-Weld-8277-Wa ... B000BRQ0TW

I use it in my saltwater tank to hold the rock work together. You have to mix it and work quickly, because it cures damn fast.

Installing a new toilet isn't the worst thing I've ever done. As long as it isn't ancient plumbing you'll be alright.

For sure. I’ve done tolilets before. This one should be a breeze. I might splurge and get something fancy. Do they make fancy toilets?

That you ask the question indicates to me that you have not yet encountered a Japanese "washlet" toilet: :)

They cost a couple grand, though.

Thousands of dollars for a toilet? I can find better ways to piss away my money.

My experience from using washlets in Japan is that the water function isn't all that great unless it also has a drying function. Otherwise, while your butt may be clean, it's also damp and basically leads to swamp ass unless you use paper anyway to dry off (or grab your blow dryer immediately after dethroning).

My mother in law has a motion activated flusher, you just wave your hand in front of it.

For you that'd simply be called a water fountain, no?

Best purchase I ever made. Save a ton on toilet paper and gets you much, much cleaner than the TP method. Easy to install too. 10/10 would buy again.

My folks bought a new place, and it didn't come with washing machine hookups or a utility sink. Shark bites made the washing machine valves a breeze to install, but I had never messed with drain pipes before. Had to buy all the schedule 40 pipe and fittings and run it all into the floor drain.

Easy peasy, just something I hadn't yet done.

I've been thinking about moving my aquarium's RODI system to the basement and building a saltwater mixing station, allowing me to do continuous, automatic water changes on my tank. The only issue is that my main drain is 4' off the ground in the basement, so I'd need a sink drain pump. Not a huge deal, but I've used it as an excuse to avoid making the change for a while. The upfront cost wouldn't be pretty, but damn would it look nice and function well.
