Has anyone purchased propane recently (large amount for your house, not a grill tank)?
Curious the current prices.

No, but we're probably due in the next two weeks or so. This should be the last refill until late summer. I paid $2.298/g on 1/31.

We have a 100 gallon tank, and last time I filled up was the first time. It was $350 for them to bring the tank, hook it up, and fill. That was in April 2018. I only use it for my stove and an auxiliary fireplace.

In the situation described below, do I have recourse?

About a year ago we bought a new dishwasher from Lowes and paid our plumber to install it. On Saturday night my wife turns it on and water starts flooding out from under the sink. I run downstairs to turn the water off. I can't tell what the damage is at this point but the cause was that the hot water line leading to the dishwasher split open and just start spewing water out under the sink. Is that something I should take to lowes, considering that it was their hookup line that split? Or the installer?

I don't think you have recourse. Sometimes **** just breaks.

I don't know, but rest assured, neither the plumber nor Lowes will take responsibility.

Lowe's generally has 1-year of warranty on work they do, so if you fall within that range, call them up and file a claim. If there's little to no damage, the most you'll probably get out of it is a braided stainless hose for the connection, I'd think.

Does your hot water heater have an expansion tank on it? It too may be faulty.

I want to "dress up" my house a little bit and was looking at shutters. Which lead me to wide lineal J channel around a window instead of a shutter. I presume that will be difficult to install being that you install that part first on the siding, correct?

The drum bearing in my Fisher & Paykel Smartload dryer started squealing like a stuck pig, so I ordered a replacement kit (at over $100). The replacement process included having to grind down a 22mm deep socket with a grinding drum on my drill in order to remove the old bearing shaft, but I managed to get it replaced. The official way to replace the bearing shaft is to pretty much disassemble the entire dryer, but I found videos online showing how a ground-down socket can get through the opening in the drum to remove the shaft. Some sharp metal edges cut the hell out of my right hand getting it in and out, and I had to wipe a bunch of blood stains off the dryer when I was done, but the dryer is now running without any squeaks or squeals. That's a big relief, because a seized bearing would have rendered the dryer useless.

I suffered a similar fate (bloody arm) trying to side vent my Samsung dryer.

You are my hero. I tried to do almost the exact same thing with my washing machine, but never managed to get the nut off the good old fashioned way. Tried a heat gun but smartly talked myself out of using a torch. Ended up chiseling the nut into quarters until it broke free from the threads. Unfortunately, a new bearing didn't solve the squealing issue so I was down $80 and some skin on my knuckles.

Figured the issue was in the motor bearings somewhere. Wasn't about to dig myself into a deeper hole so just bought a new machine.

I just had my driveway sealcoated, and it snowed like 10 minutes later. Just a really small flurry, and nothing stuck, but WTF.

Anyone have large area rugs (9'x12') that weren't thousands of dollars? I'm looking at some safavieh rugs on Amazon that look like they'd do the trick. Reviews all look decent enough, and they're at a good price point, just curious if anyone here has experience with that.

We've bought big area rugs at Target that weren't more than a couple hundred bucks (if that) and they have held up well.

Wife always buys our area rugs on gilt and have been able to get nice ones that size between 200-300 which is good considering the dog ruins them quick

Wayfair and Overstock. Our family room rug is like 12 x 15 and was less than $500. It’s not gonna last forever but neither does my wife’s taste so who gives a ****.

We've had good luck with rugs from Big Lots, believe it or not.

Ours came from home depot. It's not too thick but looks good and was sub-$150
