I would hope that nobody without a license would be attempting to install a new panel...
Been there, done that. The entry cable, too.

(Power was off ya dinks. That's the only way to do it.)

You probably shouldn't put anything on it if it's new wood. It should age for 6+ months to allow some of the moisture to come out.

Once that's done, Sikkens is great. I used TWP on my deck this spring and it was a breeze to apply and looks great. No personal experience on how it'll hold up, but it gets great reviews. I'd also recommend going with an oil based finish.

I hate staining treated wood. Ya boy meow doesn't have the type of patience to let something sit unfinished for months to let it dry out. My last two outdoor projects, I've used untreated lumber then stained and polyurethaned it like 3 times. They make polyurethane with UV protection.

I only use treated lumber for ground contact

X3. Pressure treated with stain and sealer is overkill.

We've got some terribly uncomfortable chairs on our front porch that we probably spent $10 for 5 years ago. Looking for a nice set of chairs for outdoor seating. Anyone with suggestions?

Sam's club has great quality stuff. I have an Agio Heritage line dining set and my parents just bought a Lancaster Fire pit set. All sunbrella fabrics and very well made.

I noticed a small brick piece on the roof of my back porch today. Looked up and saw that the chimney brick was damaged.

A few questions: would you bother fixing this? How or how much? And what the hell caused that?

I would fix it, and I can't imagine that it would cost more than a couple hundred bucks max. It's a very easy fix for any mason.

If that brick was cracked when installed, the freeze thaw cycle over the years could have done it.

Every time I ask my dad a home repair question, he always assumes the worst. He’s a doomer.

Have to apply for a variance to build my deck within the line of my house that's 10 feet from the line instead of the 15 for this municipality.

UGH. Seems like a hassle, but have to wait until July to have the hearing. Thanks COVID.

I expect it to be approved, if only to prove that regulations mean jack **** given how easy variances are to obtain.

I would think so, I submitted the signatures of my right and left neighbors to be sure, but it's super annoying how I have to do all this extra legwork just to make sure the deck is in-line with my house. Otherwise, I have to flip the deck horizontally and I really don't want to do that.

Got a quote to wrap the existing wood fascia and soffit around my house. 10 gees. Hard not to laugh at some of the quotes I get.

Just noticed that 10 year refinance rates dropped to around 2.7%. I may have to make a few phone calls.
