I have a tree service in cutting down 10 pine trees today. Pretty cool to see how quick they work.

Pine trees are typically short work for tree services. They usually don't branch way out like deciduous trees so the guys can just mow them down.

Yeah, they're plowing through them. 35+ year old trees gone in 15 or so minutes

How tall were they? I have three pines that are probably a good 40 ft tall that I want to be rid of.

These are all 30-40+ feet but most are pretty spindly. I didn't bother with stump grinding as it's on the edge of my property and along a ditch and there's nothing worthwhile there so they're just cutting them off at ground level.

You can get stump killer liquid, it'll take a while but it does soften the wood in case you happen to hit it with the mower or something stupid.

How big are some of them? I have a monster of a pine in my yard that needs to go, but I think it's gonna be a pricey job.

looking ot mount a fan similar to this to an outdoor gazebo. rather than using the chains i was just planning to mount the 2X6 (i have scrap 2x10 i was going to use) to the cross joists there. Do i need to get a weather proof fan box or anything like that to make sure the electrical components remain dry?

i was watching some youtube videos and it looks like we can use an extension cord and splice off an end and wire this in to the wiring of the fan. is there another way to potentially add an outlet for some additional lighting under the gazebo? or perhaps run the extension cord to a power strip in the gazebo and then wire the fan and lights form that

I've never spliced off the end of an extension cord. That seems sketchy to me as a semi-permanent solution. Is that for ease of installation or for convenience of removing the wire during the off season? The last time I ran electric outside, I pulled off an existing outlet and buried the wire in conduit along the outside of our patio.

1. Please do not do that. That's an electrical fire waiting to happen
2. Is your area a lot of open space like that photo? I'd install a new box near the fan and run the romex through that box. Outlets will be powered, and you can still power the fan.

2 - it looks just like that but we dont have power. where would i run the romex to?

I'm assuming that they're running the romex either from the box itself directly up those beams to the fan, or from a junction box where there is currently an outlet in the wall. That'd be the easiest solution that I can see, running romex from a junction box in the room up those beams. I'm not sure about code for exposed beams like that, though. I want to say that you probably have to use conduit in any exposed area.

Everything outside should be in conduit. Bury as much as possible. Personally, I'd try to conduit off of an existing outlet, then at the base of a beam, wire a box and wire another box are the top, then run the wire to the fan. Everything in conduit

I make sure I'm standing in a bucket of water so if something goes wrong, it'll be a quick death.

Yeah, so meow agrees with me. The good thing about conduit is that you can easily paint it to make it look better with your decor.
