When I had my kitchen cabinets replaced a couple years ago, I cheaped out when it came to the countertop. Now I'm regretting that. What do yinz recommend? Quartz or something different? I have natural, soft maple cabinets and pine tongue and groove walls. The cabin/lodge look, basically. Oh, and stainless steel appliances.
Quartz, all day every day. Virtually indestructible, and comes in a larger variety of colors/styles. I paid a little extra to go that route a few years ago and regret nothing.

Pressure washed the patio and garage this afternoon. The epoxy flooring in the garage has been outstanding thus far. Spills clean up easily, and it still looks great. That said, the small transfer case drip/leak from my wife’s CR-V did appear to somewhat stain the floor. I only tried Simple Green, and am not sure I want to try something more harsh.

If money wasn't a Thang... Id do concrete countertops from outlaw studios in Pittsburgh.
Look em up on FB
Though I'm not sure how they would look in your color scheme.

looking for shop vac recommendations. typical stuff as well cleaning out the ash of the big green egg. also - not sure if this is possible or not, but it looks like my table saw might have an attachment to hook up something to the exhaust of it to catch the trimmings so that would be helpful

I have a ridgid shop Vac from home depot. Lifetime service contract on it. Black Friday deal paid like $40 bucks. Highly recommend. Every once in a while they go down that cheap and usually are front page on slick deals.

I have an older RIGID shop vac. I think it is a 5-gallon. It came with a few attachments - one of which is for a saw exhaust. It has good suck (nice), but the hose periodically folds over to pinch itself off. It is also load af. I don't know that I'd recommend it, honestly

Looks like a WD6700, but that doesn't seem to be in production anymore. It is actually a 6 gallon

Looks like it's 99 bucks on their site at the moment. I am confident I did not pay more than $50.

I have a Rigid shop vac also. I think a 12-gallon model. It's at my mother's house right now, so I can't check. My brother also has the exact same model. Works well.

Yeah, just looked at the 2019 BF ad for HD - $39.99 for the 16g Ridgid. I'll wait until this BF to get mine then, because that's a huge savings.

Bought all our paint via online shopping. Most of the colors look like what we wanted except for the one. Thought it was a cream kind of color based on pictures. Nope. It’s alarmingly white.

Called sherwin Williams to see about doing a retint on the second gallon and we’d just use the first gallon elsewhere. They said they can’t at the moment, but if I wanted to buy another gallon they’d give me 60% off. Notbad.jpg

That's about the markup on their paint honestly. I remember running ours through a painter friends account and getting nearly 50% off the sticker price. Still, good on them.

I’ve spent the last two years finishing my basement. I took every step and precaution to proactively try to waterproof it. Went down the other day and found a puddle in the corner. Frustrating to say the least.

I'm firmly in the camp that it's impossible to waterproof a basement.

I've had dampness in one corner of my basement since I moved in. Never a puddle or any standing water but constantly damp. I removed the sidewalk that was up against that side of the house. I installed a French drain. Nothing worked. And the plan is to renovate the basement this year, but I have to get that water issue taken care of first. I have a feeling I'm going to end up spending more on the waterproofing than the rest of the reno combined.

Not from the inside, at least. From when I pirated watched every season of Holmes on Homes a couple years ago, basically the only way to waterproof a basement is to dig down and install a waterproof membrane on the outside.

Yep, and it costs a fortune to go that route.

We have a tuff N dri coating in our new foundation and a water proofing warranty for 30 years. A perk of building new, I suppose.

I want to slowly finish our basement as well. Maybe I'll start this winter.
