Yep, just measured. I'm at 5'5" of clearance. I think I'll do a slope on the one end to get up around 6' and keep everything as is. How the hell do I attach the roof frame to the existing posts...
My first thought would be to use Strong-Tie's on top of the posts to secure the frame of the roof.

Edit: Similar to this:

The kitchen in the place we just moved into doesn't have much counter space, and a huge area in the middle of it. Perfect for a kitchen island. Built this for about $70:

Planning on staining the top and the slats of the shelves an oak color (the cabinets in the kitchen are that color) and then paint the rest white.

What's the deal with changing the pre and HEPA filters? Can they be cleaned to extend the life of them?

Any recommendations for a leaky basement/waterproofing quote in the city?

I've had a corner that's consistently damp. Never had standing water, but it needs to be fixed before I can renovate.

I'd consider slicing them down and making my own cutting board, personally.

Use them as fireplace wood.

You could throw on some plywood on the bottom, buy a 2x6 or 2x8 for the sides and you've got yourself a mobile raised bed for the spring. Something similar to this:

If the wood is from 2003 or earlier it probably was treated with arsenic.

I saw an ad for this pop up on my Facebook feed last week, and am genuinely curious about this product: Swidget Outlet. I'm going to wait until it's released and tested by others first, but if the price is reasonable, I may consider giving it a try.

Don't let Keystone Basements near your house.

I got a dehumidifier this weekend for the basement. Does anyone know how that works? Should I expect a lot of water coming out at first and then it getting drier? I started it on saturday afternoon and have had to dump the bucket three times already.

Sounds like it's working. If your dehumidifier has a hose attachment, and you have a drain nearby you won't have to worry about dumping.

It all depends on the relative humidity in the basement. In other words, as long as there is wet air, you'll be pulling water from it.

If the amount of fresh air coming into your house is greater than the capability of the dehumidifier to dry, you'll constantly be drying air. Also, a drop in temperature will mean an increase in condensation, so keep your basement nice and warm.

Dang, I don't think I have any way of keeping it warm down there (radiator heat in the house).

My mom's house is the same way. In the summer it's bad. Low to mid 60's all the time in the basement, constantly running the dehumidifier. She has a fireplace down there, but not ideal for the summertime.

We went to 84 lumber kitchen design studio and priced our kitchen. It's very reasonably priced and with my wife's discount even more so.

We priced Schrock cabinets. Does anyone have experience with this brand? I started googling around and they have less than favorable reviews. But then I looked up reviews for the other 3 brands they had there and same thing.

There are few things more "ya get what ya pay for" than kitchen cabinets.
