Not basketball or football, but Pitt softball lost to FSU in the ACC softball championship...but didn't get an invite to the NCAA tournament. Notre Dame, a semi-finalist for the ACC tournament, had a slightly higher RPI because of strength of schedule.

And what sucks even more is Pitt took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the 7th, and had a 4-2 lead with 2 outs when FSU hit a 3 run walk off HR to win the game.

Total killer. I felt bad for them.

So soul crushing losses are not confined to relevant sports. Good to know.
