He did something similarly trollish earlier on last week about a recruit saying something about Pitt not being a place where he could see himself going to the NFL from.

if I had more time, id go on a nice long rant about just how bad the Devonshire loss is. dude is a legit recruit that UPS never offered and Ohio state became a non-starter after they recruited a bunch of guys and had a coaching switch. he went to a school with a lot of good ties with pitt. seems like a slam dunk, right?

not sure what it is about the nard dog but these types of guys that should be gimmies haven't been. even chryst was able to get guys in a situation like this.

So not only does he lose a local recruit to **** Kentucky, he makes sure to tweet out that the class is complete 3 hours before Devonshire announces, ruining the kid's "moment". What a **** douchebag. You suck at your job, don't be salty toward a teenager over it.
It's his job to announce Pitt, not worry about what other kids are doing if they aren't coming to Pitt.

Too far into the season to blame this kind of baloney on Stallings.
No depth and no big men, that falls on Stallings.

Being idiots and just letting a wide open guy on a last second rebound is current.
I think the freshmen, especially McGowens, are starting to hit a bit of a wall. Johnson playing all 45 minutes last night isn't going to help things either. Only got to the line 18 times last night. Brown has made progress, but Chukwuka is ass and they desperately need an outside shooter.
Chukwuka can't make a f'ing layout with no one around him if his life depended on it.

you could argue he just wanted to go away.. WVU was the leader the whole time, then OSU was in, then UK jumped in and he took it. We only seemed to be the leader when there were no other big time options. Now, there's a pattern of guys that "maybe just wanted to go away" which is more concerning

Agreed.

No. His job is to convince 17/18 year olds that he knows what is best for them and to attend Pitt. Not getting Devonshire is still a bad miss.

Narduzzi needs to recruit better. But I think it was evident for a long time he wasn't coming to Pitt if he had a better option.

Pitt’s current class is lowest graded, per Rivals, since 2013 class. Chryst’s first full class had 27, including 2 kickers, and both things lowered the ranking, but it also featured Boyd, Conner, Orndoff, Dorian Johnson, Weah, Jones-Smith, Blewitt.

How Rivals ranked Narduzzi’s four full recruiting clssses

2016- No. 29
2017- No. 38
2018- No. 36
2019- No. 47
Regardless of that, the position breakdown for this class is weird.

2 WR, 1 TE, 2 RB, 1 QB, 2 OL, 4 LB, 5 DL, and 2 DB. Desperately need more offensive playmakers.

yeah we need more defensive linemen, though too. how else are we going to recover from the loss of Hendrix and folston? only weaver, watts, camp, jones, wheeler, twymann, Danielson, etc. etc. etc.

You forgot about the loss of Shane Roy!

I'm sure we'll continue to have Watts, Camp, and Twymann play the same interior line position, have Weaver and Jones at the same end position, and then boom! you've got two open spots for the linemen that just committed.

Thank god for all the incoming linebackers as well. I haven't been able to sleep knowing that I'll never again be able to see Idowu tackle a guy 10 yards down field or Zeise miss his coverage on a wheel route.

imo Pitt needs to put together a few 8-10 win seasons to improve recruiting, especially locally.. a new coach isn't going to come in and convince area kids that anything is different and Pitt is a prime destination until it actually happens. I'd obviously like to see Duzz do better around here, but it's an uphill battle given the last ten years

imo pitt needs to find a bunch of guys that vaguely "want to play somewhere else" that live somewhere other than western pa and convince them that pitt is an urban oasis.

pitt is getting boatraced in local recruiting. even when they aren't competing against the big boys, guys still don't want to go to pitt. being useless in local recruiting has nothing to do with a lack of 8 to 10 win seasons

note: this is not to suggest that local recruiting is not the be all end all of the program

There's an obvious solution for improving local recruiting.

Pitt has a perception issue, and none of you can deny it. I'm not saying this just as a hater, as I hear a lot of casual ramblings from people who are just casual fans, or don't have so much a dog in the fight between Pitt/PSU/WVU. Stuff like "wow, Pitt is in a bowl game?", "Pitt blown out by (pick one - PSU/Clemson/UCF/Miami)? not surprising", "Pitt won the ACC coastal? wow that division must suck", etc. And now I'm sure... "Pitt lost a local football recruit to Kentucky? wow"

Narduzzi is a failure. He has absolutely failed to carry over any momentum from upset victories and winning the coastal - but once VT, Miami get back on track, we'll look back on that one as a major fluke.

So with that said, I hope Narduzzi stays at Pitt for a LONG time. I can't wait to see the next awkward embrace between him and James Franklin after his team crushes Pitt yet again next year.

to play devil's advocate, he needs to wait for every kid to announce they're going elsewhere to announce his class? if Duzz knows he isn't coming to Pitt and his class is complete, he can get on with his own business and move forward
I checked into Pantherlair and this is the prevalent line of thinking. I'm happy to know that my unofficial stance is vindicated by such esteemed individuals
