While we're standing there waiting on the light to cross, we hear a familiar voice sidecar to the left (or right). It's Bill Hillgrove.

corrected for your convenience

So.. We're going to beat Duke and UVA and start to get excited for this season again, are we all in agreement here?

Watching some of the games on Saturday, I talked myself into the following:

1. the Syracuse and ND games were evidence that the defense is getting better,
2. the defense will continue to improve, and
3. Mack's potential return + the bye week gave them enough to get this passing game from f'ing embarrassing to slightly below average.

That will somehow be enough to send them on an improbable 5-0 run because nothing this season makes sense, other than ESPN already scrambling to figure out how it's going to fill time when Bama is up 28-0 with three minutes left in the first quarter of the National Championship game.

I then remembered that this is Pitt, so I quickly reset expectations for 2-3 so as be happy/thrilled if they somehow pull off 6-6 or even 7-5.

I am positive we will beat Duke and Va Tech, lose to Miami and Virginia. Likely lose in Pitt fashion to Wake Forest.

He mentioned that he didn't have the year last year he wanted to have on the field. What is it about his personality?
Narduzzi: Just the way he presents himself. I think guys respect him for who he is, how he acts off the field. Dennis Briggs, when you look at the player he was a year ago and now, it's night and day really. He is a much, much better football player. Even though he was a leader a year ago, he's a much better football player right now than he was a year ago. He's making a lot of plays. Playing with confidence. I'm happy for what he's doing.

In what ways is he better?
Narduzzi: He's a better tackler, cover guy, where he needs to be faster. Just everything really. He's playing at a high level right now, I think. Better than he ever has.

If he's better at all those things now he was much worse than I remember him being in 2017.

No idea how these two major developments have no yet been discussed in this topic occupied by many fine people, but Jeff **** George Jr. has surpassed Ricky Town as KSP's backup. Ricky Town must really suck.

Also, Quadree Henderson was promoted to the NYG's 53 man roster for Monday night's game and handled himself well on return duty. Had no idea he was even on their practice squad. Happy that the kid is getting a paycheck.

I missed the Quadree Henderson news over the weekend, so that's pretty awesome. I don't know all of the ins and outs of it, but it looks like his base salary is guaranteed at $480K. With the Giants heading towards a rebuilding, I hope he can stick through the year there and eventually get some looks at wideout.

Jeff George Jr. may be Narduzzi's Dennis Briggs of the offense. He talked a lot earlier in the season about getting George here at the 11th hour, the lengths that this coaching staff has gone through to get him here and how much they think of him, so who the hell knows what they see. I don't know what to think of any of the players further down the depth chart because of the way the coaches have talked out of their collective asses about some of them.

yes, I for one am excited for jeff George jr., a two star recruit that couldn't cut it at Illinois (a stinky team) and Michigan (bad offense)

pitt 2.5 dogs against the blue devils this weekend. I would never bet on a pitt game, but if I did, I'd bet on pitt in this one.

I wholeheartedly agree. In fact, I actually put down $30 on the Pitt money line.
