I do not consider myself a Trekker at all, but I did greatly enjoy TNG and thought DS9 had its moments.

That said, anything that effectively gave birth to Galaxy Quest gets a thumbs up from me.
Galaxy Quest is an American treasure.

So... a couple years after Nemesis the Borg hit Romulus. The Romulans don't fair to swell. Picard leads a fleet, which was made of anti-Borg designed ships (Sovereign, Akira, Defiant, etc) enhanced with Voyager anti-Borg tech, to Romulus and and defeats the Borg. Thus, saving the Romulans. After the Borg destruction, the Romulan Empire is in tatters. Starfleet (and Section 31) try to take advantage and Picard soon gets fed up an quits. The Romulans manage to keep hold of a Cube. Many Romulans feel that they owe Picard everything for saving the Empire and sticking up for it. Much like Picard gained respect (and some power) in the Klingon Empire, he now has respect and "unofficial" power on Romulus.

But now pieces are moving...

So you're a bigger fan than me? Is this from a movie (i haven't watched them multiple times like the series') or is it the premise for Picard

Actually that seems way too cool so i doubt they would go that deep into where they get their plot for this. Though i am optimistic they will go with something that can be agreed upon to be meaty enough and still consistent/derivitive enough (in a good way)

Picard continues to be excellent.
The reunion of JL and Hugh was so well done. Love that whole sequence.

Probably should go in the TV thread, but we happened to catch an episode of TNG recently. I wanted my kids to watch it, because I remember loving the show back in the day (as did my wife). It was the episode when Q attempts to turn Riker into a Q or some such.

Man, it was tough to watch. Really awful acting, horrendous sets, and just not enjoyable. I mean they used an actual green screen for the background/sky of a planet. I know the special effects were not expected to hold up to anything they are doing now, so that was fine.

But yikes. How did I watch this show back in the day? I guess fewer choices, not as jaded as I am now...

I hope they have a young, digital Q show up, look at Picard, say, "John-Luc, you got so old!", and then snap his fingers to be the current John DeLancie.

First season 2 episode of Picard was better than most of last season. Also; Shyster nailed it:
