2008 Pens/Rangers playoff game.

Pens went down 3-0 in the first period.

Pens won 5-4.

Got two hours sleep and drove back to Jersey.

Either the 2010 Rose Bowl when tOSU beat Oregon, my cousin was the punter and we had the majority of my mom's side of the family out in Costa Mesa for a week.

Or Game 5 of the 08 Stanley Cup finals, triple OT and met Max Talbot before the game in the elevator and had a cool conversation with him.

I've been to a pile of Pens games, but no exciting late round ones. Probably my favorite was early 2010's - Pens over Bolts 8-0. Stamkos fell down on a penalty shot.

1. Game 7 of 2004 Stanley Cup Final -- Flames at Lightning
2. 2005 NCAA Championship game -- UNC vs. Illinois
3. Missouri at Kansas basketball 2012 (last game between the bitter rivals)
4. Michigan at Penn State 4 OT game 2013
5. Twins at Yankees in 2002 when Jason Giambi hit a game-winning grand slam in the rain in extra innings (and I'm a Twins fan)

Whatever that "one-legged Jagr beats New Jersey in OT elimination Stanley Cup playoff, and saves Penguins from moving to Kansas City" game was. Plus, I was working as a bankruptcy consultant for the Penguins, and they got us really good seats for free! 8-)

In the company box to boot. Never had I been to a Pens game where it was loud the entire game.

1991? I didn't think they were moving to KC back then.

I couldn't say what the best game was, but the most memorable was Game 5 of Pens vs Caps in 1996.

The only thing about this game that I remember other than the Pens winning was Jim Schoenfeld getting ejected and having to walk across the ice while getting booed.

This isn't actually the most memorable sporting event I was at in the spirit of the question, but I'm going with this just the same.

Was at a Pens-Kings game in LA that the bad guys won in OT. The winner was scored by a guy whose name is phonetically identical to mine, and who wore the same sweater number as I was wearing in my beer league at the time. So hearing 17,000 hockey fans lose their minds when my name and number was announced was kinda fun, despite the situation.

I was at game 1 of that series, which was not nearly as enjoyable. That was the same series with the epic 4 OT game with the Nedved seeing-eye goal and sad_gonch.gif.
