I stayed the entire game opening day even when 3/4 of my crew hit the bar about 5th inning. Both arms stretched out across each seat beside me and legs up on both seats in front of me. Enjoyable, even in the cold.

Yours truly was in attendance last night. I enjoy a two-thirds empty ballpark because there's less sweaty people around to annoy me. Williams is solid. Frazier had a solid night. Hope Cervelli's hand is okay. White Sox are incredibly terrible.
It hit him in the arm
Well then I hope his arm, which is connected to his **** hand, is okay.
Haha I wasn't being a dick. I thought it was his hand too initially and figured you couldn't tell from the ballpark

lol correct. Was behind homeplate. Couldn't really see where he was hit. The starting pitcher for the White Sox looked like he was throwing meatballs for the first two innings. Pretty sure I could have made contact on a couple of his pitches.

Polanco might be locked back in, he obliterated that one ball last night that went off the wall for a double.

I think either that broke a bone for Cervelli, or it didn't and he'll be fine for this weekend.

Marte's is obviously more problematic, hopefully he didn't tear a muscle in his side or something.
If Cervelli is out the replacement is obvious, as the great Jacob Stallings will bring the family name back to Pittsburgh. If Marte heads to the DL there will definitely be some roster intrigue.

Bostick is batting 315/372/477/849 and should probably already have been up here to get a shot at 2B with Harrison out (really don't get why the organization seems to dislike him). Luplow is out of his slump and is now batting 255/355/434/789 for the season, including a 343 average over his last 10 games. Meadows, who I doubt they would ever consider calling up at this point, is trending the other direction and is batting 282/328/385/713 on the season with a 244 average in his last 10 games. Or maybe they continue to pretend that SRod is a CF and decide to pull the trigger on a Newman (suddenly batting 315/346/425/771 on the season after batting 474 in the last 10) or Kramer (290/358/435/793) call up. Or maybe they do the most Pirates thing ever and go back to having 1000 pitchers.

Well, Diaz would probably suck in an everyday role, so if either of those guys are actually hurt, they might be f'd.

I also didn't realize that Josh Bell has actually been really bad.

50% GB rate? that's sad.

I would really like them to give Osuna a chance to bump bell back to Indy to work on some stuff.

Meh. In May Bell is batting 333/489/641/1090 with an ISO of 308 and a GB rate of 32.3%. I'd like to see him get a higher launch angle and more hard hit balls, but in general whatever was plaguing him in April seems to have been sorted out.

He's had that 50% GB rate each of his three seasons. I'm just not confident in him being the player we want from a first baseman right now. I think the stuff he needs to work on might be best to work on in Indy.

Given his track record, I feel its safe to say that his GB rate isn't going to substantially change anytime soon.

2012: A - 41.9%
2013: A - 46.4%
2014: A+ - 46.8%
2015: AA - 53.8%
2015: AAA - 49.1%
2016: AAA - 45.7%
2016: MLB - 50.0%
2017: MLB - 51.1%
2018: MLB - 49.2%

I'm guessing Taillon was unable to get everyone to pee on his hands.

The Buccos are now 10-2 this season in inter league play. They used to be just terrible vs the AL.

I had them at 500, so I can take credit for predicting that they would be a first place team at the quarter mark. Although, seems like they’ll be closer to that than the predictions the other jabronis in here made.

I went with 78 wins early on and stick by that prediction. But that being said, i am first and foremost a fan of the pirates so i want to see them win, and they are winning, so i am happy and i’m Not going to sit around waiting for the wheels to fall off
