8-4 over next 12 games at worst should be doable with the opponents. After that it's a pretty tough schedule all the way to the all-star break.
6-6 (assuming they don't pull this one off) is a disappointment given the opponents. Especially since 5 of those 6 losses are in the last 6 games.

Meadows with another double. Polanco has to be the odd man out when everyone is healthy, right?
I honestly don't know what they're going to do, though it's worth noting that through the first five games in his career Polanco batted 385/407/500/907 with a homerun and four RBIs and now he's mud. Knock on wood for Meadows avoiding that fate.

After today your Battlin Buccos will have 113 games left. An equal split would give each outfielder about 85 starts the rest of the way, giving Marte, Polanco, and Dickerson ABs in the low 500s and Meadows close to 400 MLB ABs. I'd rather see more ABs for Meadows and less for Polanco, especially since while I was typing this Meadows hit another HR and Polanco flied out to right like the jabroni he is.

Is there a team out there that would want to trade a starting pitcher for a corner outfielder?

How about a corner outfielder and a dying on the vine starting pitcher in exchange for a starting pitcher?

honestly if they're committed to giving Polanco chance after chance I'd rather them just sell high on Dickerson and put Meadows in left

Considering how the current roster is constructed, and the number of guys in AAA that are pushing for ML playing time right now, I wouldn't be upset if the Pirates were to fall out of contention this season.

Considering the way that this team struggles with consistency, and the current batch of starters, i'm not sure that they have enough to be competitive this year, and I'm also ready to dump off some of the veterans that are currently getting at bats.

I think it's mostly that I want to see Moroff get some more at bats in the infield, I'd like to see Glasnow given another shot in the rotation (Nova out), I think Brault's stuff plays really well out of the bullpen and I want to see him in a higher leverage relief role. I would consider moving Harrison and Dickerson if the buyer was willing to spend, and that goes for Cervelli as well, if he could net a Lucroy type return.

Again, I never contested your conclusion.

It was more that you had no basis for the statements you were making. You complained about people being encouraged by the Pirates strong start because you presumed they were bad.

You didn't like the basis for my conclusion, not really the same thing. You don't buy that the Pirates inertia of failure is a valid basis for an argument. Cool. I do.

The :pop: was for ulf but good morning to you as well, sir.

This is pretty much what I wanted from the very start once they dumped Cutch and Cole. Play the young guys as much as possible to see what you've got. Even with the unexpected start I don't think this team will sit as a contender at the end of July and I don't expect them to add much during the process, so give as many innings to your young pitchers as possible and play the young fielders while not blocking them with SRod and Freese.

Adam Berry had a graphic showing Cervelli's batted-ball profile over the last few seasons:

So when does he get busted for steroids? Seriously.

Marte could be back tomorrow.

I guess Meadows goes back down? Or Osuna?

Osuna should go down and Polanco should have his ass stapled to the bench. If they send down Meadows at this point nothing they say could save them from the anger generated in the 12 fans they have left.

this fan, who apparently represents 8.3% of the total fan population, would be highly agitated if meadows gets demoted and/or loses at bats.

seriously, is polanco the biggest flop in Pittsburgh sports since the turn of the century? A LOT of opportunities to make it work, and zero progress.

Musgrove pitched well. 7 innings, 7Ks, 5 hits, 67 pitches. Even had a single to start an inning. He was lifted for a pinch hitter for some reason. 🙄

Quick question regarding Dickerson...I know the Rays DFA'ed him. Why? I know they needed room for Cron but Dickerson was coming off an all-star season. I am absolutely excited that he is here, and I'm sure he has something to prove.
