It's on Netflix, watched it the other night.

Mighty Ducks franchise is gone, though. No Junior Goodwill Games. :(

I have The Cutting Edge on DVD, might break that out before long.

I have never seen Mighty Ducks or Cool Runnings and never had any desire to do so.

By definition, you’re too old to have had any interest.

Also true of me.

This will be the first time since 1964 that an American has failed to make the Olympic podium for the women’s singles figure skating.

RE: skiing

Best thing a Randall has done sibce.... ever?
She was arguably the best female sprinter in the world 2012-2013, and especially in the skate style. But yeah, it was surprising that she could follow Kalla and Björgen for three laps. The people responsible for Team USA's skis should get a raise ;)

This year's crop of figure skaters were incredibly bad.

It hasn’t been good. Though I think we can still match or beat last olympics gold medal count.

Not even close. It's difficult to compare medal records across history, because recent WOG feature many more sports (all the X-style stuff, short track with their avalanche of disciplines,...), but in Calgary 1988, US ended 9th(!) out of 17 countries with 2-1-3 record. Once again, difficult to translate into "2018 inflated medals", but USSR had 11-9-9 record in those Olympics.

This is just eyeballing/fading memory claim, but I think that USA is on track to finish No. 4 in country rankings in Korea, and pretty much every non-US WOG until and including 1998 Nagano resulted in USA being placed WORSE.

The US ladyhockey team won gold, beating Canadia, and hat's all that really matters to me. (I read prior to the start of the tournament that someone on the dudehockey team said there was a "Lake Placid vibe" around team, which immediately drowned them out to me)

Actually the podium run ended in 2006 for women's medals. Sasha Cohen won a silver.

As for this year's group. The announcers were saying Brandi Tennell (the US champion) after she was 2015 she was injured, and didn't get back to skating until 2017. So she's not going to really bring anything after being out for so long. Karen Chen is only 18, she can learn from the experience. Mirai Nagasu shouldn't have made the team over Ashley Wagner.
