Deleted the Pens game from the DVR and NBC was on. Left it on to see what Snowboard Cross was about. Very first commercial break is a 1 minute love letter to Vonn, which bleeds into Tirico talking about Vonn. That bleeds into another promo for Super G, featuring...Vonn.

I fell asleep after Donato scored his second goal. Since the score ended up 2-1 US, I didn't miss much.

I don't follow winter sports much anymore, so it was just today when I learned that the the father of the Czech bronze medalist in snowboard cross Eva Samkova (who beat Lindsay Jacobellis by 0.03s) died exactly one MONTH and 1 day before the Olympics finals race after battling brain cancer.

That 5 spot they allowed Italy to put up was totally inexcusable. They curled ok apart from that but omigawd- all you had to do was not give up 5 in one end!!!!

Yeah the comeback against Italy was great to only have lost by 1. They also gave Sweden, the best team in the world, a 4 spot in the very first round, directly from a Shuster miss (as the captain, he always throws the last 2 stones I believe). Ended up losing 10-4.

He is the absolute antithesis of clutch, and as others have said, doesn't exactly come across as likable even outside the sport.

The highest peak in the Czech Republic is just 5,256 ft. (1,602 meters). The country has no serious alpine skiing slopes. The lady took alpine skiing as her SECONDARY discipline (next to snowboarding) just THIS season. That Super-G was her first championship race ever.
Czech betting companies posted odds for her victory equal to 100 to 1...

And now she is infinitely more famous than him!

I guess Julie Foudy tweeted something about the insults on Twitter that were being lobbed Vonn's way (which are obviously uncalled for, especially the nasty ones), and this was her response:
