Neat, Shaun White's gold was USA's 100th gold in Winter Olympic competitions.

White winning 3 times is pretty freakin' legit.

Props to him.

I'm hoping White gets to do the last run with the gold locked up. He deserves a victory lap on his way out.
I'm glad you were wrong. That was some exciting action.

Any word on the snowboarder that biffed into the top of the pipe? That didn't look like it felt good at all.
That was absolutely hideous. Apparently the injuries were not serious, which is shocking. He basically landed on his pelvis from 20 feet in the air, and then fell another 20 feet onto his upper back when he landed. No idea how he escaped serious injury there.

Pairs free skate was some compelling stuff. German pair came back from a decent deficit with a flawless skate and snagged gold away from the Chinese. 5th Olympics for the girl in that pair and she finally gets a gold.

Also, girl in the Canadian pair dropping f-bombs (of joy) after winning Bronze. So far I've clocked her and Shaun White with providing that live-TV magic thus far.

USA goaltending was not good on the second goal. Not just because it was a poor goal (it was, imo) but also because of the timing of it. USA had been pouring on pressure, and needed a stop.

Shiffrin delivers in the Giant Slalom, an event she wasn't the heavy favorite for gold.

Meh, I'm not stressing over the US women losing last night. They have time to address issues before the gold medal game. The goalie who played last night might not be the one who plays in that game.

I was so glad the German pair won. Tara, Johnny and the 3rd person (I don't know his name) was saying how her latest partner initially wasn't up to his partner's skill level (She first competed at the Salt Lake City Olympics. Competing for 16 year.). He felt awful after the short program. He admitted he blew it. He vowed to skate clean and get her the gold. And he did.

Not to mention Canada was way offsides on the second goal and it wasn't challenged.

I had practice last night so I only saw about half of the 3rd period (though our coach was cool enough to put an iPad on the bench so we could keep an eye on the game) but perusing the Hockey's Future forum they seem to think that USA dominated and that the Canadian goalie should've received all 3 stars.....
also of note: watching Kendall Coyne skate is very McDavid-esque for me. the speed and acceleration she gets is just amazing!

That non-challenge is a little difficult to understand.

USA carried probably 80% of play, but they displayed the scoring instincts of a sloth cadaver. I lost track of the number of shots they took from the outside hash marks despite having yards of open ice in the middle.

Whew, glad you said McDavid and didn't channel your inner Pierre who called her very Martin St. Louis-like, right down to her number.

Snowboardcross was crash-tastic. Couple more injusies and the btonze would have gone to the rider carried off on a stretcher closest to the finish line.

John Shuster looks like he has dropped about 50 pounds, maybe it will finally make him a lean mean curling machine.
